My thoughts on the spring game....

Running backs: Nothing to worry about

This was first time i saw Alfred Morris and let me say he's as good as advertise on here maybe even better.  Edgecomb and Pierre were great 3rd down type backs and would have been great contrast's to Morris's style of running.  Morris is really that physical back FAU has needed to solidify a run game.  I was also happy with with Stinson and Rolle.

QB's:  Nothing to worry about

Rusty was fine, Van Camp did what was asked even though pressure got to him a few times.  Kooi looked ok made some mistakes but that should be expected from a young 3rd stringer.

WR/TE:  We know what we've got not going to go in to details should be fine.  I was glad to see Housler make a great TD catch.

LB:  I really like Soto even though he's undersized he was in there making plays.  I was kind of worried about Yourhighness, there were a couple plays were it seemed that he shy'd away from contact and missed finishing up a tackle.  Maybe he was out of position but just my two cents.  Was also concerned how the running backs were also able to run with ease after getting past the D-line.  This is wait and see.

Secondary:  Question marks for sure (Polo did not play because of injury).  Our CB's are quick and athletic but i think they will have issues against bigger WR's.  Would like to see them lock down more in regards rush defense.  This is also wait and see.

Defensive Line:  Looked pretty good i must say.  Was glad to see them get pressure at the QB this is something that has been missing from past defenses.  Kevin Cyrille's performance has to be giving everyone a lot of optimism.

Offensive Line:  Looked decent especially with the losses of Paris and Rizzo.  Kind of concerned how the defense was able to blow past the tackles on a few plays but not too worried going into the season.

I have a good feeling about next season.  You have to figure we're not going to be picked to win the belt.  Last year's team was too cocky and thankfully turned it around just in time.  I think this team with vets that have been humbled by last season's loses at the hands of Texas, Mich. ST, Troy, and Minnesota (not MTSU because that was a game they dominated and lost by luck) and the younger guys who aren't feeling the pressure of high expectations are going to make this team a dark horse.  Honestly, i think they have a good chance at competing for the belt.  Feel free to add anything.

Re: My thoughts on the spring game....

Liked your assessments on what you saw . . . Van Camp especially provided some interesting plays when taking off on his feet . . . it was funny, being on along the players sideline and hearing the defensive coaches / players responses to his quickness . . . needless to say, they can't be restated here, but I think you get the idea . . .

So, let me throw it out there, hoping not to upset anyone too bad . . . Rusty Smith undoubtedly has all the talent in the world with that arm of his . . . but, would it be a bad thing to let Van Camp come in and take some designed plays downfield on the ground?  Might keep things interesting on the other side of the ball . . .
