Mythical Polls for Sun Belt Teams

It's too bad the bottom 5 teams this year (more than half the SBC!) are so weak. ULL and MTSU should have been better this year. We all lose when one of our teams loses to a I-AA team.

FIU's season is also certainly a letdown. They weren't too bad two season ago and they have the same resources as we do.

1. Troy (beat OK State)
2. FAU (lost to OK State)

3. ASU

4. MTSU
5. UNT
6. ULL
7. ULM
8. FIU

Interesting.  What's your basis for having Louisiana and North Texas finishing below Middle Tennessee?  You do know that MT has to travel to UNT this season and is 1-5 all time against UNT?  And Louisiana has beaten Middle Tennessee three times in the past four years.  We must also travel to ULM whose offense has managed to score at least 21 points in each of the last four contests.  I'm not sure we can beat anyone that scores that many points on us this year.  Middle Tennessee has the nation's seventh worst defense.  1-AA Western Kentucky is the only school we've held below 21 and 20 points is hardly a difference.

I just don't see it in us this year.  Don't be surprised if Florida International breaks their losing streak this weekend.  Then what would be your opinion of us?

Sounds like you are abandoning ship early. MTSU could still pick up a few W's before the season comes to a close. I think MTSU will pull out a win against FIU. There is lots of football left to be played.

GO OWLS!!!

I'm a season ticket holder and I back the Blue Raiders no matter what.  I'll be supporting our team even if we walk into Troy 0-11.  My thing is this.  I have no reason to believe that we will finish with more than one or two wins not against the teams we have left on our schedule not with what I've seen so far.  I will hope for the best, but I will also brace for the worst.  We are 0-4.  This is just like the 2002 and 2003 season.  Both seasons were 4-8 seasons in a much weaker Sun Belt conference.  Consequently, both seasons also included season home opening losses on a Thursday night against 1-AA teams.

Despite the loss to WKU and the injuries, MTSU is one of the premier teams in the Belt and is under performing. The were co-champions last season and went to a bowl game. I think they will pick it up in the remaining conference games. The WKU loss, while demoralizing, isn't really a big deal since it was OOC. Also, I haven't seen anything from ULL, ULM, UNT, or FIU to make me think that any of them is better than the other or capable of beating MTSU. You have FIU next, which is also winless, and then two OOC games to prepare for the rest of the SBC schedule.
