National Signing Day Fundraising Dinner

Once again I wanted to thank everyone who came to the event tonight. I spoke with Coach Pelini on the way out and he was impressed with this event given the short notice. Was an exciting night getting to meet all the coaches and staff and the vision they have for the future of the football program.
There really is something to be excited about with FAU football.
Can you give a recap for us out-of-towners?

Re: National Signing Day Fundraising Dinner
6-7PM, was a meet and greet open bar where everyone mingled, you could introduce yourself to the coaches, meet other fans and boosters. There was also a silent auction that went on (I won a signed football :-) 7PM everyone got seated and a dinner buffet was served. Ken LaVicka got in front of the crowd and was the MC. President Saunders spoke briefly, Craig Angelos spoke briefly, then Coach pelini was announced. He spoke for awhile about his philosophy and vision for the program. He then introduced the entire staff. Amazing how fast he got it to come together but I really feel there is a cohesiveness with this staff. Then Marvin Sanders the new DC spoke and Brian Wright the new OC spoke. We of course saw film on all the new recruits (Melvin German is a BEAST).
Afterward, there was an auction for a 4-some of golf with Coach Pelini and then a trip to the 'bama game with the team - including air, food, hotel & sideline passes.
That was it. Great night. Money was raised to help the football program, and we got to know this energetic young staff alot better. Everyone should be really excited about FAU football. This was announced as The Best FAU Recruiting Class Ever!

Was there anything unexpected?
How was the mood in the room?
Did Pelini look ecstatic/happy? Or did he have his normal poker face on?

It was well attended, going in I wasn't sure how many people would attend, but FAU did a great job and the turnout was awesome. It was nice having a chance to talk to the coaches, wish I had more time with CP & Jeff Simms though. When I had my chance to engage Simm's he had just got off the phone with a potential prospect ( still recruiting for this years class ).
All the coaches seem very excited to be here and are ready to get started getting ready for spring ball, they have a ton of evaluating to do to develop a depth chart. They all spoke that they could not have done what they did in such a short time without there being solid foundation already in place, the stadium is a huge part of that.
I believe everyone in attendance (as well as the coaches) were all very excited about the new era that is about to begin.

Re: National Signing Day Fundraising Dinner
I was a little disappointed in the amount of money raised but I think if Pelini does this every year we'll see a major improvement, once the deep pockets warm up to the guy. There were a lot of people there who couldve paid a lot more than what the Alabama trip went for but most of them are part of the Schnellenberger guard (and the big money donors get to go on trips like this already) so I dont kniw how quick they were to stroke a huge check. For reference, Jarvis sold two trips just like this and raised $30k. I think if we put a 6/7 win season together, tickets to this event next year will be A LOT harder to get and the money will be there.
The players and highlight videos were good, MG3 is the nickname of your new QB btw. ;) he better get his AA!
