National Signing Day Fundraising Dinner
They also didnt have many items up for open bid, just the one trip and a golf outing.
I did score a Titans game used football signed by Rusty Smith however. ;D

This is a young guns team of coaches that have staked their careers on FAU Football being successful, that alone makes me very confident in where this program is headed. This is definitely the best class FAU has ever seen and that was done in about a month, imagine what is going to happen in the coming years. If you are not 100% on board the FAU Football bandwagon now is the time to commit!

Re: National Signing Day Fundraising Dinner
As far as the fundraising goes, it is tough to raise money for anything right now, people's pockets are light, especially with a 1-11 season and a new, virtually un-proven (maybe unknown is a better word) staff. But, with some wins and some smart marketing (I know, I know) I think the money will come in, maybe not tommorrow, but it will roll in. I really want to try to make it to the spring game this year, it would be my first time, but I'm really excited for the upcoming season, GO OWLS!

Ok, here is the soup to nuts summary of the evening.
6-7PM, was a meet and greet open bar where everyone mingled, you could introduce yourself to the coaches, meet other fans and boosters. There was also a silent auction that went on (I won a signed football :-) 7PM everyone got seated and a dinner buffet was served. Ken LaVicka got in front of the crowd and was the MC. President Saunders spoke briefly, Craig Angelos spoke briefly, then Coach pelini was announced. He spoke for awhile about his philosophy and vision for the program. He then introduced the entire staff. Amazing how fast he got it to come together but I really feel there is a cohesiveness with this staff. Then Marvin Sanders the new DC spoke and Brian Wright the new OC spoke. We of course saw film on all the new recruits (Melvin German is a BEAST).
Afterward, there was an auction for a 4-some of golf with Coach Pelini and then a trip to the 'bama game with the team - including air, food, hotel & sideline passes.
That was it. Great night. Money was raised to help the football program, and we got to know this energetic young staff alot better. Everyone should be really excited about FAU football. This was announced as The Best FAU Recruiting Class Ever!

They were two separate items, I believe the golf went for 3K or close to and the trip went for $3,700.

I believe that is his primary role but last night was supposed to be about the new staff and players.owlmart said
hmmmm I know we are getting away from the Howard era but I think he could still be pivotal for fundraising during this transition…

One thing I forgot to mention was that CP is a huge disciplinarian on classroom time and he said that up to last night, they had not had one tardy or missed class from the entire football team! Granted we're only a week or two in but still, that's a point of pride for him, that's awesome. They used to track it at Nebraska and they did 115 days straight or something crazy, that's awesome considering there's over 100 guys on the squad.
