76 degrees is not hot anywhere,  so cramping due to heat and humidity should be ok. And Nebraska has artificial turf called FIELD TURF, so mud won't be a problem either. But please do bring 50 balls as it may be wet, that was plain stupid of us!

Let's line up and play the game and stop looking for reasons or excuses to why Nebraska beat us. Who knows, this could be OUR DAY (note; I personnally think it will come in Columbia, S.C. though).

it's not the 76 that will get you.

but you will end up cramping when it gets to the later part of the game and it drops down to the 50's.

Re: Nebraska Game Weather

If it rains, Memorial Stadium handles water quite well.  It may get down into the 50's at night but it won't be as humid as the weather channel says.  There is a cold front moving through next week that should make conditions perfect for a night game as long as the wind doesn't kick up.  FAU fans, is Smith the real deal?  I've read a lot about him, but have conflicting opinions.  Some writers claim he is one dimensional.  A pocket passer with no threat to run.  Watched the bowl game last year, and he looked good.  Impressed the heck out of Central Michigan.  Your O line looks beefy.  Can they protect the passer and open holes in the D line?  Looking forward to Saturday night since the donkeys aka Broncos made the boneheaded trade of the century and Sundays will be a major disappointment this year.
GBR!

Re: Nebraska Game Weather

We haven't played well in bad weather, yet you have to learn at one point to overcome those type of conditions if you want to be a good team.  We have solid senior leadership on the team that can get the players in the right mindset and it has much to do with your mindset going into the game & as the game progresses to handle the conditions.

I think we have the RB's that can handle that type of weather better then in the past - unfortunately with no game time experience … you just don't know.

Rusty is a pocket passer and is not know for his scrambling abilities, but can throw on the run if he has to .. he will more likely allow his receivers to adjust to broken plays before he pulls it in to run.  The OL give Rusty amble protection, especially in the OCC game where we are more then likely to keep a FB back to help pick-up blitzers, giving Rusty those extra few seconds.

The OL has done a much better job as of late to create running lanes, sometimes it's up to the RB's to create something.

Re: Nebraska Game Weather

If anything will affect us it will be the elevation as Memorial Stadium is over 1,176ft above sea level… that can make anyone short of breath on a good day… plus Memorial Stadium is cavernous if they sell it out!!!!

Sure beats Lockhart and the FAU training ground!!

It will definitely be a sellout (stadium holds around 85,000). Every game since 1962 has been sold out. It is an ongoing NCAA record. In fact I will be attending the September 26th game this year against Louisiana-Lafayette which will be the 300th consecutive sellout. The team will be wearing 1962 Throwback Uniforms. I know, “Too much information”. ::)

Re: Nebraska Game Weather

Elevation an issue? Don't think so.

The issues will be the strength of the Nebraska football team, the tradition and the sellout crowd. The elevation of Lincoln – 1,176 feet – compares to Atlanta, elevation 1,050 feet, and no football players have trouble breathing there. The Owls have played at far higher venues (Northern Arizona at Flagstaff, Ariz., elevation 7,000 feet, and Northern Colorado at Greeley, Colo., elevation 4,859 feet) and they had no breathing trouble at either place. As for me, I'll get good mileage driving down to Lincoln from suburban Denver. We're at 5,420 feet, so that's a 4,244-foot drop in about 500 miles to Lincoln. It'll be all uphill (and worse mileage) coming back to Colorado.

Re: Nebraska Game Weather

Have you ever tried to run down here in 100% humidity? Try that and get back to me on "thin" air. Thick air is just as bad, and we live with it all year long.

Re: Nebraska Game Weather

Me? Hell, I can't run even up here in thin air. I am a Florida native (sixth generation), so I know about humidity and temperature. That's why I live somewhere else. One true advantage of high elevation is that a guy can get a buzz quicker than at sea level; this saves on liquor bills and as a retiree, I appreciate that.
