I like the idea of Tallahassee. If that isn't a big enough city, what about Charlotte? To my knowledge there isn't a bowl there. Louisville would also work. It is a cool city that would be close enough for most SBC teams. There are lots of options.

GO OWLS!!!

Charlotte has a bowl that seems to have a different car care theme every year.  Its an ACC/Big East game.  It would be cool to one day have a Sun Belt Championship game there.  It was where the Belt was founded.  I know they where fighting hard to get the ACC Champ there for the past few years.

Good to know. I didn't realize they had a bowl. Interesting that the SBc was founded in NC yet there aren't any SBC teams from NC.

GO OWLS!!!

Cities that are less fun than Tallahassee (with bowls):

Birmingham, AL
Shreveport, LA
Boise, ID (cold bowl)
Mobile, AL

Tallahassee is also growing pretty quickly as far as population, and it obviously already has the infrastructure for a bowl (parking, hotels, bars).

I was just saying Tallahassee would be a good one along with our Boca Bowl type thing, we need more than 2 for the Sun Belt IMO and Tallahassee is a good locale.

Re: New Bowl for the Belt

I will agree on what the Sun Belt needs for a succesful Bowl loaction (if more tie-ins are considered) - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

And yes having a location that is centralized is a must, it will allow the small fan base of the Belt team to travel as cheaply as posible.  Also, find a city that will offer something for the fans that do travel.

NO was great & South Florida could be a great location as well, just not the centralized location of other places - Would Orlando or Jacksonville be better?

Max Finley is pretty small…but I guess if its a secondary or tertiary bowl for the sun belt it wont need more than 20k seats.  Actually that would be nice and packed for a bowl game.

I can see Orlando or Miami being bowl locations in Florida just because they're already tourist meccas. Tallahassee, Boca, Jacksonville… those would be tough sells to me.

Based on what they've done so far and their "two Florida schools a year" philosophy, I'd say UCF's AD is pretty smart. I'm sure they're already trying to host a bowl game at BHNS. Come for the bowl game, stay for the theme parks. That sort of deal.

Re: New Bowl for the Belt

Ok, let's get a grip, people.  We have too many bowls as it is.  Currently, there are 32 bowls, 64 teams.  There are 120 teams in D1A.  More than half the teams make bowls, and you need only a .500 record to get into one.

If we keep adding bowls, how soon before we run out of teams to fill them?  And even if we don't run out, how many mid-major 6-6 teams do you really want to see in the post-season?

If we want the SBC to get another bowl tie-in, we should focus on the existing bowls, not creating new ones.
