No, I mean the ACC, I see a move to the AAC as lateral at best…

I see us move up to the AAC in the near future much more plausible. I think the ACC is (currently) waaaay out of our league. Just my humble opinion.

One other thing that could become interesting, right there next to the new I-95 & Spanish River Blvd, on the north side of Spanish River Blvd, is some land leased by the City to FAU. The plans show that becoming some sort of power substation. At the hearing last November to extend the City/FAU agreement, FAU stated that the strategic plan was completed, and a new master plan would be out in a year. So, in about 6+ months, that year will be up and we may have a better idea of what's up. I found the idea of a power substation on land leased to FAU intriguing, so am kind of anxious to see how that may be coming into play.

As for classrooms and dorms, the push is for the state university system to be heavily reliant on online courses by 2030, so I am thinking (hoping) that any power substation is for new athletic facilities.

And then ya gotta think the U will block us if at all possible!

I don't see any benefits to moving to the AAC.  Yes, right now, the ACC seems out of our league and a pipe dream but a year ago beating UF seemed impossible and we took them to OT.  We were tied with UM in the 3rd Qtr.  So are closer than you think.   If  the program takes off like we know it can and moves to the top of C USA, attendance increases, a few successful bowl appearances, then a move up to better conference is inevitable.

Other than from a recruiting standpoint, I don't know how the "U" would feel about it.   This could be another great in-state rivalry.  But say they would block any move, I do know that the Big 12 is looking to expand.  Maybe they would be interested in a Florida school.  That might even be a better fit for FAU.

Thinking about our basketball program in the ACC is just laughable. Even in the AAC it is laughable................

We are a long way from an ACC invite.  AAC is not a hugh step up but it is definitely a step in the right direction.

Rather play at home vs. Houston/SMU  over UTSA/UTEP/N. Texas, or Temple over Rice, or East Carolina over ODU, or NAVY over anyone in CUSA not to mention Tulsa/Tulane/Uconn/Memphis or the remaining teams from USF/UCF/Cincy (whomever Big12 does not take).

MUCH better lineup than CUSA IMHO!

I agree with you both. We need something to get fans excited to go to games and support the local team!

As I write this while sitting in my empty FAU merchandise store just 4 blocks from campus, I look out to the 3 parking spaces directly in front of my store. The first car has a guy standing by it who is wearing a Penn State shirt. The second car has a UCF license plate & decals. The 3rd car has a Florida Gators license plate frame. Jeez Louise! Go Owls!!
