They lose 2 texas schools and 1 florida school…depends on how they look at it, they were fine with UCF being the only Florida school in the conference for the last few years. Perhaps they see the state of Texas is more valuable for their recruiting efforts…before you know it, University of the Incarnate Word is in CUSA! :D
I'm just playing devil's advocate, we shouldn't assume we're locked in.
UCF was the only Florida school after USF left…and Orlando is still hundreds of miles closer to some of the other schools in that conference then FAU and FIU are.

Now does the Big12 add more to replace - further weakening the BigEast or do they stand pat?

While I hope we get to reap some of the benefits, this whole conference re-alignment movment has become a complete joke. It's no where near over, and now we have conferences that are all over the place. Maybe it's just the common sense in me but the SEC stands for "Southeastern Conference", which should entail that the school be located in the southeast U.S.. Missouri is not in the SE. The Big East is had added TCU (Texas), and is looking toward Air Force (Colorado), and Boise State (Utah). I know they're just names, but they used to mean something.
TCU was going to join Big East until more dominoes started to fall and then Big 12 made an offer. So now TCU is now going to the Big 12 rather than the Big East
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Mendenhall: Big East has approached BYU
PROVO, Utah (AP)—BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall says the Big East has approached the school about joining the conference.
BYU is in its first year as a football independent after leaving the Mountain West Conference.
The Big East is working to add new members and become a 12-team football conference, following the announced departures of Syracuse, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
The Big East wants to add Boise State, Air Force and Navy in football only and SMU, Houston and Central Florida in all sports.
Mendenhall said at his weekly news conference: “There is a push and there are conversations that are in place for the Big East to convince or to have BYU join that conference.”
If they can get both Boise and BYU then they will also get the CUSA programs (Houston ans SMU to join, and together with UCF leaving CUSA that would open 3 slots there. Let's hope we can snag one of them. I beleive that FAU, FIU and North Texas are there best bets, especially in media market draws.
