Thanks for the welcome. Anyway, my son's name is Brandon Ward. He's 5'11' 228 Lbs, 4.7 40, he plays FB & LB. He plays hard & is a tough, hard working guy. He started both ways in his senior year at FB, LB, DE & TE. The way he played, he was the irresistible force against the immovable object. He's just happy to be getting the invite, & knows that he has to work hard & is excited for the opportunity. We had two 1,000 yd rushers this past season, because of his bone-crushing blocking, & he also has soft hands & catches the ball really well, with 18 receptions. He also had 50 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries.

Well, that's a little bit about my Lil Guy, Brandon Ward.

Again, thanks for the welcome & we'll see you guys at the games.

Charles Ward

Sounds like a PERFECT fit for our FB in HS's offensive system…

almost like a carbon copy of Aaron Sanchez…

if he works as hard as you said he does, he's a shoe in…Howard is a big fan of this prototype…best wishes! Hope to see him accel as an Owl!

Big thanks, to you & all, for the kind words. Although, Brandon missed an offer from the athletic department, because of the communication flubs, but he did earn a Bright Futures scholarship. He's excited, & he is ready to show the coaches that he is worthy, & is ready to earn one.

One thing I noticed, as I watched a few FAU games this past season, is that there were no guys at FB that were down right nasty, when it came to lead blocking. I didn't see, but 2 or 3 games, & may have missed it, but one thing we need at FAU is a FB that takes pride in handing out snot-bubbles, on his lead blocks. Now, I'm just a doting Dad, & I'm proud of my Lil Guy. So, Brandon is ready to lead the way, & help deliver our first 1,000 yd rusher, although we were close in 2004 with Parker. He takes pride in that.

Again, thanks.

Hard to disagree. Boy, it would have been nice for Parker to hit that milestone, it would have been a great way to cap-off a great season that year.

TE Rose tends to be a better blocker then Sanchez was and hopefully will help the running game this season become more of a steady presences, but if your son (Ward) can deliver like you say he can, it will put some pressure on Rose to preform and should help to develop quality depth at that position, something we haven't had.

Welcome cjdub21, a former Jacksonville resident and St Augustine native here. I'm pretty excited about what you have to say about your son. Please check with us regularly and keep us up to date with how things are going. During the away games this season, join us on here for the play by play action and comments. They can get pretty hilarious at times. We usually listen to the game on an internet broadcast.

The games that I did see, I only saw Sanchez at FB. I read the 2007 prospectus, & it highlighted Rose. I don't no really much about him, other than he's a R-So. Brandon is gonna really work hard, I know that is a certainty, & from his past history he should have success.

Also, from what I've seen from the roster, & my conversations from Coach Joe C., it seems like most or all of the new guys are redshirted. Is that safe to assume?

Will do! I can't wait. It is very exciting at our house, as Brandon get ready to attend FAU. It's like we're all going there this year. ;D

Rose is quicker on the ground and a little more agile…he can be tough to bring down in the open field once he gets going, as was seen on more than one occassion in the Spring game…he also has soft hands - which makes him a good fit for a predessesor to sanchez…f he were healthy last year, you might have seen alot more of him…

BUT it sounds like your son could be a better blocker, and he has good size coming in at 228lbs, AND could put on 10 - 15 more after working with the trainers and nutritionist…that would put him as the biggest back we have ever fielded! 240lbs is a tough load to bring down at his size and speed…that 5-11 frame offers a pretty low center of gravity when steamrolling ahead…

someone can correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think we have ever have a back at 230+ on the field??

Brandon has really good hands also, which is why he played a lot of TE during HS. We just didn't have a good enough QB, until his senior year, then the coach implemented the spread offense & the touches for the FB's & TE's were almost nil.

Brandon does have a low center of gravity, due to his build, & is ALL ass & thighs. During HS, Brandon Benched over 340 & Squatted over 500 lbs. He is a load to bring down, once he gets it going.

He knows that coming in as a walk-on, he has his work cut out for him, but he is excited for the challenge & is working hard now to get ready for training camp.

Not an impossible task - we have many walk-ons to have earned scholly's and starting spots and become solid players for us.

Again, good luck to Brandon this fall.
