I just hope we focus on Leach. Let him know we REALLY want him, we will take care of him and that the program is his to build. I think he takes it personally!
from the way it sounds, I'm sure FAUfasho has befriended him on facebook already and is camping outside his keys home with FAU signs!

Well I already had the money in place for a plane fly a banner over his house and pay for a billboard on I-95..but then I got the bill for my student loans so I had to cancel that, lol.
In regards to Leach bringing in the spread- I think it'd be an easier transition because he runs a pass style spread offense so it relied heavily on the QBs passing ability (something we rely on as well) rather than how athletic and fast the QB is. I'd be a little upset if we didn't get Leach on the sole fact that he ran a spread and Coach didn't like it, then we got some no name assistant coach who no one has heard of.

Gary Nord - great OC, not so great HC but who knows maybe he could learn from his mistakes. Still I'd prefer a big name guy to help sell tickets.

"Nord has been a head coach before. He was 14-34 at UTEP before being dismissed in 2003."

Not a fan of putting all our eggs into the Leach basket. He'd be a top candidate for sure, but he's far from the only qualified coach out there. Another potential candidate: Terry Bowden. 131-59-2 head coacing record. He has coached at multiple levels. Spent a number of years at Auburn, and is currently the head man at D-II North Alabama. If he's willing to coach at North Alabama, salary is less of an issue for him then a guy like Leach. He's also 55, so he is less likely to be using FAU as a stepping stone.
So in my quest to compile a list of prospective coaches (hopefully Craig Angelos is reading), I've come up with Mike Shula and Terry Bowden. Thoughts?
I agree with your Terry Bowden comments. He's been very successful over at UNA and has a great football reputation.

Re: Next FAU Coach?
1. Mike Leach
2. Gary Nord
3. Jim Leavitt
Leach is the man…would keep this ship sailing long term with a lot of success
Nord has a passion for FAU and that speaks volumes.
Leavitt has a winning mentality
Outside shot: Butch Davis
Id love to see them retain Coach V and Jared Allen…they bleed Owl blood!

I like Gary Nord also. Make no mistake about it, Nord was our Offensive Coordinator 2005 to 2008, and we went bowling in 2007 and 2008. I honestly don't think that was just coincidence.
