Point taken, but conceivably he'd be earning a lot more in California.owlfan1 said
California has the highest state income tax at 13.3%, followed by Hawaii at 11%, Oregon at 9.9%, Minnesota at 9.85%, and Iowa at 8.89%. Saving 13.3% on a $1 million salary is a nice perk of living in Florida.

To try to keep it apples to apples. To "NET" $1 mill in Florida he has to make $1.67. To "NET" $1 mill in CA he has to make $2.128. Rough estimate.

One thing no one had discussed is our OC or DC could be offered by a P5 university. No doubt these guys are doing a good job. It maybe in a year but losing them is a high probability at some point. They would probably take over the same job with significantly larger pay.Posted On: Nov 22nd 2017, 10:43 AM #373938
They both have clouds of controversy hanging over their heads. Don't see them leaving on their own quite yet. Chris Kiffin is NCAA related; Briles is public perception. Once cleared how long does C Kiffin need to be at DC before being offered a P5 DC? This is his first year, has he done enough?
And again, enjoy the day stop worrying about tomorrow. Success means you will get poached probably.

That's not rough…That's wayyyyy off.
If you make 1,700,000 in California, you would pay $509,000 in federal taxes and $200,000 in state taxes.
If you make 1,400,000 in Florida, all else equal, you would pay $390,000 in federal taxes

Notice I didn't say NOW. I said maybe in a year.
BTW, register on the board.

I said to NET $1 mill
Florida: Gross $1,667,000 x 40% tax rate = $666,800 in taxes or NET $1,000,0000
CA Gross $2,128,000 x 13% state rate = 276,640
x 40% fed tax rate = 852,200
total tax $1,127,840 or NET 1,000,000

I forget who it was, but some of us were talking about that on an earlier thread. I think it's a good chance that those guys could get hired away sooner than later, especially Briles. He isn't nearly as risky as his dad, and his offenses are hot right now. I think he could easily get hired by whoever is the new coach at UF or UCLA. Or Kiffin might even bring him plus the family where he ends up.

Again. You are wrong and have no idea how taxes or math works. If you gross $1,700,000 in California, you NET $1,000,000 (see above for the arithmetic) If you gross $1,400,000 in Florida you NET $1,000,000 (again, see above).

Top tax bracket 39.6%. 1,400,000 would be 510,218.6. which is not netting $1,000,000
1,667,000 would be 615,950 in taxes which would be netting $1,000,000.
If I ever become a millionaire you will have to tell me how to pay 28% in taxes.

Wow, so say people who make under $400,000 pay 35% and those over pay 40%, you really think someone who makes $395,000 nets more than someone who makes $401,000? Taxes are PROGRESSIVE in the US. Nobodies effective tax rate is 53% that sounds ridiculous. You should pay me tuition because your professors failed you.
