There was this one kid, a few years back, who couldn't even start for his high school team. His parents blamed it all on politics. I can't deny that politics exist on all level of any sport. So I went to a practice and watched him goofing around almost all practice! Then I went to one of his games and watched his play. The kid should have been on JV if he wasn't a senior! But dad was an ex-jock who had high expectations for the kid. He had an opportunity to go to a good DII school with a prospect I was working with. He refused. This prospect eventually played for Auburn after transferring from the DII school. But the lower level competition helped him to improve his skills. The one who refused? The last I heard, he was playing club football somewhere in Pinellas county.

I wonder was his dad the coach… ;D
