Owl Football Team Meet and Greet

Post

Just wanted to give a shout out to the Owl football team, coaches, and administration for holding the meet and greet today.  It's really nice that they open some of this stuff up and get the public involved.  My six year old was excited (and nervous) to get his picture taken with some players today!  He really loved the autographs.  We're brand new Owl fans and are looking forward to watching them playing in CUSA.  I'm a Boise State Alumni, so I bleed Orange and Blue, but I'm insanely excited to see the Owl program develop and hopefully hit and upward stride.  Can't wait for the Miami game!  Go Owls!

Welcome! Glad you had a good time!

You said you're a new fan - what got you into the Owls? Did you recently move to Boca?

Yes!  We just moved here about a month ago because I was accepted into a PhD program here at FAU.  I'm a huge college football fan, in particular my alma mater Boise State.  One of the exciting things about being an Owl fan is that I get to see them play a lot of teams that Boise State could only dream of playing!  We're really excited to hit all of the home games, especially since it should stay relatively warm here.  Nothing worse than sitting on concrete seats in November while it's snowing like crazy outside.  I'm a mid-major fan, so the transition from WAC to Mountain West to Conference USA should be pretty easy.  As far as I'm concerned im a two team guy now, I just hope they never have to play each other (hah).

Gotcha.

I believe the concrete seats in November thing… I've seen pictures of people sitting through football games in the snow… which is definitely not a problem in Florida, though I did sit through the rain for about half the "Shula Bowl" game (vs FIU) last year. Got pretty soaked. But that was the worst thing to happen to me in an actual game. Usually it's really decent outside.

As far as FAU playing Boise, I personally would enjoy that (or FAU playing Oregon) but I'm not sure if Boise would ever agree to our terms, which as I understand it is now something like $1M for a single game or a 2-for-1 home-and-home. What does Boise pay visiting teams? $500k? $1M?

Welcome, hope the Owls can grow into a Boise east kind of program, that is our goal.
My daughter almost went to play softball at Idaho St. (Pocatello I beleive) but we and she decided that was a bit far from Georgia! She ended up chosing a private college in North Carolina (Brevard College) over Florida St. (probably a good thing, might have over partied herself out of school there - ha ha!).

GO OWLS!

Welcome, glad to have you on board! Not sure we will be quite as good as your Broncos, but you don't really now how powerful a win is unless you get knocked down time and time again.
Best of luck in getting your PhD! See you along the Breezeway!
