The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW; San Antonio, TX) kicks off our inaugural football game tomorrow night at 7 p.m. CT. Our DII school is opening against Monterrey Tech (Mexico), who has won several Mexico National Championships. :/

Wish us luck!

UIW won the game in thrilling fashion 42-39 on Saturday. Benson Stadium holds 3,000… and 750 temporary seats were brought in for the game.

Announced attendance: 6,235. That means about 3,000 stood the entire game - and I was one of them.

It was a great game and a big win for our program.

We had about 150 at our alumni tailgate, which was huge. Monterrey Tech had a big following and boasted numbers of 300 alumni (which is to be expected because their team doesn't come to the US much to play football.)

I had the honor of helping with "field security" and MTech's entrance/exits off the field. Their team was very respectful.

And after the game, the team stood in front of UIW's fans and shook their helmets, said a prayer and applauded our fans. Real class act. I loved it.

UIW's next game is against Arkansas Tech next Saturday.

Congrats on the win and good sportsmanship is the best! Good for them as well!!!!!
