Not sure why the tone was antagonistic at times though.
Holding his feet to the fire. People have made these assertions and he has the responsibility to address them. Obviously ESPN760 is "on our side" so I think it was really the way to allow FAU to tell their side of it because the PBP article I posted certainly didn't have a quote from CP.
I commend them for holding his feet to the fire because, to be very honest, I think the media has been way too complementary to our coaches in the past. When did they ever hold Howard Schnellenberger's feet to the fire? It was infuriating. For years the program was circling the drain and nobody took him to task for it.
It's not a surprise to hear things like "we rank all the kids at that position and we offer to fit our needs" but now those quotes are out there for people like the Atlantic coach who feel burned. I think the most telling quote was (not verbatim), "I was a high school coach that went through recruiting too, I wanted all my guys to get recruited too but that's not always how it works out."
Good job, ESPN760.

Even better, if we can fulfill being the "Boise St of the East" we will have recruits knocking on our doors asking for visits and subsequently, offers.
Cannot wait until we get to that point. ;)

Doesn't matter who he used to be. In that clip, he was the interviewer.CanadianOwl said
The interviewer? You mean former FAU defensive end Jason Pugh?

If so, what does Chad Ward have to be upset about? Especially considering that he is the same guy who said this:
"Right now FAU wants me at receiver, but Alabama wants me to play DB but they haven't offered yet."
"When asked if he was solid to FAU, Ward had an interesting response.
He said, 'As of right now, because Coach [Howard] Schnellenberger, he's going to be leaving after this year so they probably are going to have a new coach.'"
Sounds like he was "entertaining us" based on the above.
The only issue here is that no one came forward with another offer aside from DII Bryant, so now he's spurned.
Should we contact Matt Porter to write a complaint article the next time a PBC prospect changes his mind that we really wanted and said they would come here?
Pretty sure the pen will be dry.

The only part that bothered me was the impact on possible future recruiting.

"Well Alabama wants me to play DB but they haven't offered yet"
Well I want to buy naming rights for the stadium, but I haven't won the lotto yet.
"Howard Scnellenberger is leaving after this year, so they'll probably have a new coach"
Probably? No we're actually so good that we don't need a coach.
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Another thing about him is he is brutally honest. He goes places in an interview that many coaches steer away from or simply skirt the question. This was apparent with his comments about local coaches using FAU as a fallback school.

Yea, I agree with him… Scholarships are very limited and spending one on low end local tallent isnt doing us any favors… I'm surprised we don't recruit more up north.. I think our weather would be a huge selling point to Northern Kids.
