If I'm out of the loop, please enlighten me. I being serious Florida Owl, I invite you to go there.

my post is edited to address the above further…

ill add this:

they are offering nothing to the students, but the lousy endzone seats and even that is in jeapordy if they have enough interest in the game from "paid" fans…

they should be given a sideline opposite the home side…

let the visiting fans sit in the endzones, and 45's…

who pays the bills here??

Re: Per FAU - Ticket Status

This is how it should be: Students lining up ON MONDAY and ON CAMPUS instead of waiting in line on Saturday before the game. Check out TBO.com

USF Bulls fans wait in line Monday morning at the Sun Dome ticket office for their tickets to the upcoming USF v. FAU game at FAU, Saturday, Oct. 6.

Re: Per FAU - Ticket Status

I think everyone is getting ahead of themselves. We won't really know until game time if there will be a problem with tickets. I don't know how many USF fans will be traveling to the game, but I can't imagine that more than 5,000 will be there (I could be totally wrong). I think the stadium will be close to capacity, but I don't envision people rioting in the streets because they can't get tickets. However, in the unlikely event that it does happen the BOT might want to think about building a 45,000 seat stadium as opposed to a 30,000 seat stadium.

Somebody from athletics tonight told me the seats are all sold. The endzones are not.

Re: Per FAU - Ticket Status

I do think that the opposing team should have the other end-zone available for their fans, with the usual section that is allocated for them.

The visiting side-line used for Owl fans & other fans that want to upgrade and pay the higher ticket price.

I don't think the students will have a problem come saturday, but the school should have students pick-up their tickets on a designated day (Monday) during the game week - to eliminate confusion & would give the department a heads up to how many students to expect, all ohers would then have to pursue tickets thru the tickets office after that designated day passes.

I know that it has never been a problem before this, plenty of seats available, so this are the type of things that you learn from and prepare better for the next time.  Remember that we never have been in this position before.

That means that more than 5,000 seats are still available.

Time to be enlightened…from Hutton's blog today:

"Here’s the latest on tickets – we won’t get a firm number until 5 p.m. today. FAU ticket folks spent Monday taking orders and getting caught up from a weekend flurry of orders.

What we do know is both sidelines are basically sold out. USF got an initial allotment of 1,000 tickets to sell and 500 comps (for band, cheerleaders, officials, whomever they wanted to give them to), and then they asked for 1,500 more, so USF had 3,000 to distribute.

But just how many other USF fans have bought tickets won’t be known until Saturday, because they could have used Ticketmaster or called FAU’s ticket office. Expect it to be closer to 8,000.

The game could be sold out by Saturday, though The Suit promised to hold out a certain number of seats for students. That number would be the average of how many students have been coming to games, which is not many, maybe 1,000.

Students have to go to the game early and get in line for those tickets, since they won’t be distributed until then.

Fair? Not really. Sure, if more students had been showing up, they would have gotten more tickets. On the other hand, students are bankrolling most of the athletic program through student fees (8 of the 12 mill), so in my thinking they should be given first consideration, whether they have been showing up or not.

It’s bad enough that they were forced to sit in the endzone when the visitors side was wide open. Now, when arguably the biggest game home game in FAU history comes along, why shouldn’t they get a ticket?

An alternative plan would have been to give students a chance to come to the ticket office by Wednesday at 5 p.m., show their Owl card and get a ticket. That way FAU would known how many students were going, and it would also give the ticket office time to sell what was left.

The way it is now, if the game is a sellout before Saturday, students will have to go to the game early to get the tickets allotted to them. If 2,000 show up, 1,000 may have made a wasted trip.

That could leave a lot of angry students in left in the parking lot to stew about coming but getting shut out. This is probably a one-game problem, though it would be nice if demand went up from both the general public and students.

If it does, FAU needs to find another way to be sure every student that wants in gets in."

Couldn't have said it better……………..

Bottom line:

as your link above (with a photo of USF students getting ther game tickets YESTERDAY for this Saturday's game) proves, its easier as a visiting student to get a seat to an FAU home game than one of FAU'sown students!

THATS ABSURD.

No way, make it 30,000…make it hard to get tickets and the rich people in Boca Raton will see it as a who's who to be at the game in good seats almost a status symbol.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.
