And that accomplishes what this year? These guys are all gone at the end year anyway, what good do you think hiring new coaches does for us right now? It won't make the players on the field any better, so what would be the point? Hopefully, the future coaching staff, besides maybe the head man(like Leach), are currently employed with other programs. There will be a new staff next year…we just have to ride it out until then.

its pretty obvious leach is the going to be the target. his offense would create a stir in the sun belt. when boise state was a nobody 6 years ago they got sexy because they would score 50 points a game in Dan Hawkins offense. It didn't translate to Colorado but it doesn't mean it didn't work for him there.
FAU is in the Sun Belt, its needs to distinguish itself from the other 50 non BCS schools.
This is getting off topic. I just don't see any reason at all to keep the coaching staff intact if their fate is inveitable. Let howard and staff coach the rest of the year but at least hire a new head coach now, call it some bull "transition period" and let him start going after his staff and recruits.
its a very unique opportunity, 99% of time a coach is fired before you bring in somebody new, here we have a definitive date because of retirement. You can handle the situation with respect to Howard and give the current staff a shot of earning a spot in the new staff. Its obvious Angelos needs his hand held in this process so maybe he can have an open mind and look at other possibilities of handling the situation.

Seriously though the top 25 FCS teams would wax us. I don't think we'll go win less this season but would anyone be overly shocked if we did? On a lighter note, congrats to FIU and coach Cristobal for actually showing up for a game and beating a Big East team on the road.

this year is over, at least putting a new coaching staff in by the end of september would give them a leg up on recruiting.

I know you are upset right now, and so am I , but you aren't looking at this thing rationally. First of all, we have only played 2 top 25 schools. Do I think this team is any good? Not really, but I'd like to at least see them play a Sun Belt opponent. Second, you can't just replace an entire staff at this point in the season. Third, do you really think it'd realistic to think FAU is going to pay TWO coaching staffs? These coaches are all under contract you know…they still get paid even if they are fired.
We all want change and it's coming…just not right this second.

regardless of the sun belt play, is this doesn't have much to do with today. its just taking opportunity now rather than later. i said in my previous post, its a unique opportunity fau is in to hire a coach.

LOL…it would be great, but nobody is going to work for free. Why would he? Besides, your imaginary scenario is basically the same as letting the season play out, except you are limiting yourself to one candidate. As much as I'd love to have Leach, I'd also like to see who else is out there. What if Mark Richt is available? He'd be right up there with Leach, IMO. Plus, he's from Boca and has none of the controversy(not that I care about that anyway).Exit39 said
do i have any facts to back it up? no. but it wouldn't surprise me if you hired leach he would work for free, evaluate the current staff, interview others and then be ready to roll dec 1st, with a signed contract.
