I know everyone will say that it's another useless bowl, but hey another football game is another game., and lets face it, the NO bowl really doesn't mean anything in the big picture but we were all very happy to be there.

"and will field a match-up between a Big East and a Conference USA team."

good for the people of St. Pete, but unfortunately this means nothing to us as a football team until we move conferences.

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Update:

A little bowl shuffling.  The St. Pete bowl was approved, CUSA vs. BE.  The PapaJohns.com bowl has dropped CUSA for the SEC.  I honestly don't really care because Birmingham really, really sucks.  Soon after the PJ.com bowl dropped CUSA, the Texas Bowl severed all ties with the Big East and made CUSA the permanent tie in to face the Big 12 annually.  This is a good bowl- last year's game for Houston vs. TCU drew 55,000 fans in Reliant Stadium.

The PBJ.com will have a lower-pick SEC team, so during years that they don't fill their bowls the Sun Belt could pick up a spot there.  Also, next year the Big East will have 7 bowl tie ins for 8 teams.  I'd bet anything that they don't fill 2-3 of their bowls, so those are other opportunities.

What # team from CUSA goes to this bowl? If UCF ends up at this bowl game I feel bad for your opponent because they will be severely outnumbered. Talk about home field advantage

I don't think there's a set "rank" to go there.  For instance, if UCF doesn't win the conference and go to the Liberty, I'd bet the St. Pete will take us no matter where we finished (assuming winning record of course).

You're right though- a UCF vs. UConn or UCF vs. Cincy or Cuse game would be a very UCF-friendly atmosphere.

I would think that the St. Pete bowl would do everything they can to get UCF there, in order to make the first game look good.  Unless you win the conference, I bet UCF will be in St. Pete, which will be great for you.
