I think they need to work on this no huddle thing a bit. You can't call a no huddle and then stand under center for 20 seconds trying to get everyone in position. It defeats the purpose

Pelini made a point in his post-game interview that because the offense wasn't moving the ball, expediting the plays would just put the defense back on the field too quickly - sound familiar? So he slowed down the tempo.

Wasn't just FAU though. Wagner also took forever to get things going. This irritated a lot of people around me in the stands.

We need to stop putting all our eggs in the MG3 basket. MG III not RG III. Nothing against the kid, but I'm tired of hearing about him. NO ONE has any idea how good he truly is. He could be amazing or he could be just as good as Curtis, no one really knows. We were a much better team in the 2nd half with Wilbert under center. Why are we already calling for a new QB. Let's see what he can do against MTSU.

+1  Forget about MGIII (I hate that moniker, is everything we do have to copy some bigger program?)…At this point red shirt him…Wilbert looked good in the second half.  Let him finish his senior year, let Melvin acclimate himself to FAU and get his academics in order.  Year two and three will be much more talented teams than the current team.  Why waste a year of his eligibility where most of us agree we are not a bowl team with or without him.  Assuming he is the real deal.  I am not about annoiting people before they perform on the field.

Wilbert also needs to work on his mobility. Sometimes I feel he doubts about taking off. I truly believe he could be more dangerous.

You're right. He needs some confidence in himself. Don't 2nd guess, just do it and protect the ball. Chances are it'll be the right decision

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

A few thoughts now that I had time to sleep on what I witnessed:

1.  It was UGLY, but it was a win…and an ugly win over Wagner is better than any loss to Wagner.

2.  Wilbert was impressive.  Not sure how he didn't beat out Curtis for the job initially, but he earned it last night.  In the 2nd half, you saw how this offense is supposed to look.  It was quick, and they made some big plays.  If not for the fumbles at the goal line and the missed FG, Wilbert leads this team to 24 points in the 2nd half and we are all feeling a lot better about things today.  You can't throw those things out, but they are correctable.

3.  For the most part, the defense was really good.  I know it was only Wagner, but they did their jobs and it was something to build on.

4.  Never overreact to 1 game.  In 2003, FAU lost to D-II Valdosta State in their home opener.  They then went on make the I-AA playoffs and finished 4th in the Nation.  This team isn't that good, but it's not almost shutout by Wagner bad either.  Weird things can happen in any 1 game, especially in the first game of a new regime.  They got the first one out of the way, hopfully it gets easier from here and there is only one direction to go from here.

5.  MTSU is very beatable.  They have trouble stopping the run.  If we can hold on to the ball, we have a shot.

6.  Good job by the students tonight.  Excellent turnout for a bad, oddly scheduled game.  Hopefully the crowd is even bigger for NT one month from now.  Chun promised that they would ramp up marketing efforts for that game, so we'll get to see what this new regime can do to move tickets.  A better performance against MTSU next week would help.

GO OWLS!

Hell, we're beatable by local high school teams, with our rushing defense and inability to draw up better offensive plays than a bubble screen. Use the sidelines to your advantage.

My how our two programs have fallen.

Have to give credit to Coach Wright, offensive coordinator, for a balanced offense attack against Wagner (Rushes - 164 yds and Passes - 163 yds, Total = 327 yds).

Re: Post Wagner thoughts

Hahahah! Umm Graham we're going to need you to show up on Saturday, that would be great.

What's up with the whole RB (insert name) for at least 1 yard? He could have gone 27, but hey he got at least 1!
