Soooo does this game actually count as a win???

Yes, but if we some how finish with 6 wins, this does not count to make us bowl eligible

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Acutaly it might,

The other site has quote from Pelini saying this game would count.

Wagner has 40 Football scholarship players and 20 Non-football Scholarship players (Academic and other)

So they meet the requirement to count as our FCS win.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Re: Post Wagner thoughts

They were the ones that said it wouldn't count as well…

Anyway, don't start worrying about 6 wins until we seen them perform against MTSU

Re: Post Wagner thoughts

Coach Pelini says it counts, so I believe it.  1 down, 5 more to go….sounds easy!  ;D

Re: Post Wagner thoughts

Um…Why would we schedule games that "don't count" towards Bowl eligibility??

Re: Post Wagner thoughts

heard it many times since Saturday that since they don't meet the required number of scholarships it doesn't count towards bowl eligibility. Clearly whoever started that rumor is wrong

Re: Post Wagner thoughts

A few of the SBC posters were under that impression as well and they didnt get thier information from the other site, so it was a common misunderstanding.

Re: Post Wagner thoughts

For what it worth here is the official rule.

18.7.2.2.1 Exception—Football Championship Subdivision Opponent. [FBS] Each year, a Football Bowl Subdivision institution may count one victory against a Football Championship Subdivision opponent toward meeting the definition of a “deserving team,” provided the opponent has averaged 90 percent of the permissible maximum number of grants-in-aid per year in football during a rolling two-year period.
(Adopted: 10/28/97 effective 8/1/98, Revised: 4/28/05, 12/15/06, 4/29/10 effective 8/1/10, 7/30/10)
18.7.2.2.1.1 Waiver. [FBS] The Football Issues Committee may approve a waiver of the 90 percent requirement to permit a Football Bowl Subdivision institution to count a victory against a Football Championship Subdivision opponent toward meeting the definition of a “deserving team,” if a unique or catastrophic situation affects the Football Championship Subdivision institution’s ability to average 90 percent of the permissible maximum number of football grants-in-aid per year during a rolling twoyear period. (Adopted: 8/11/98, Revised: 4/28/05, 12/15/06, 4/29/10 effective 8/1/10, 7/30/10)

Re: Post Wagner thoughts

Bowl eligible win or not - I'm still not sold on Wilbert as our starting QB.  I like the idea though, that Pelini was "holding" back players and the playbook to surprise MTSU.
