He left to help his NFL draft stock by going to a better school. That's not speculation, I know him and heard him say it at the spring game. It's his prerogative to do what he's doing, punter isn't exactly something you excel at and scouts take notice. I never said anything because I wanted to be sure he was really going to do it before saying anything about it.

You are correct that he can do what he wants. But if he thinks that his stats at  FAU will be measured different then his stats at FSU, and that the NFL won't notice, he is hugely mistaken . His choice though. There is some crazy decisions going on in the recruiting. UM has three 4* RB committed (including Scarlett) and FSU has three 4* QB's committed. I am starting to loose faith in the decision making of our youth. I think they are all being sold a bill of goods. These coaches are great salesmen.

I am losing faith in the adults who always claim to only have the best interest of our youth in mind. BS.

He's really good and he will have a legit shot of playing for a national championship at FSU, so good for him I guess. Its a roll of the dice for sure.

Northwesterns Fitzgerald had some great things to say about the recruiting process during their media days and hopefully, if enough big coaches start to pipe up, we'll see change happen. An early signing period where players can put ink to paper in the fall and a "cooling off" period of a few days right after the offer is made would be great. Itll slow down some of the emotional decisions and prevent coaches from pushing a player too hard. It also makes everyone both player and school, be upfront about their intentions.

AND, how many 4 and 5* RB recruits are ALREADY on the UM roster. Sorry but the doubter in me really begins to wonder HOW they get that many to recruit to the same school, and at the same position. What "perks" are being offered or promised?

He may have said that, but it isn't the reason…there were other factors involved, although that does "sound better".

Otherwise, why would he be visiting FCS Furman?

BIG TIME program that they are, not better than the Owls - who are on TV every week.

Anyway, looks like he may land at South Carolina for next season.

Gamecocks possibly closing in on a punter
