Also who is the WE Ole Randy keeps refering to.

I believe the "We" he makes reference to is The Post editorial board, which collectively decides the paper's "position" on certain issues. Just in case anyone want to drop them a note too, here are their e-mails:
(It's amazing what you can find on PalmBeachPost.com)

CanadianOwl - I love your lurking and response techniques and the way you throw just enough fuel to the keep the fire going ;D

This guy is living in the past on how Boca used to be and has forgotten that every city in Palm Beach County has also grown tremedously - not only Boca, poor little Randy. Wake-up dude traffic sucks everywhere not only Boca.

He says he supports FAU - I would like to know how, he, "the WE" - the Post editoral board - if you support an institution you don't take cheap shot like this, you at least present the information, good or bad, with some supportive information that paints the hole picture, then I guess that would require effort on his part. It far easier to throw crap in someones face whether it sticks or not is irrelavate.

Instead of taking cheap shot at FAU mister Randy, why not present a solution to the traffic problems if this happens to be one of your major issues with FAU. Why not get behind the efforts behind the interchange that will link I-95 directly to the campus, why not present other possible solutions that may not only benefit the City of Boca and it's residences and the University as well. If you where really interested in improving the situations that just makes you steams everytime you past by FAU and I sure you blood pressure does rise everytime you happen to drive by - why not be part of the solution instead on spending you efforts crying like a little worm that you are, oh wait that would require effort and might take time away from your golf games, manicure, message theraphy, …. .

Hey, Randy get your head out of your A$$ and open your eyes - the world around you is changing every day, FAU is not going away, it is part of your beloved City. Some of you Boca residence may not like the fact that you have a University in your own back yard - god forbide that Boca maybe be concidered a college town :o that would go against that image thing that Boca residences happen to embrace so dearly - how pathetic. It may just surpprise you if you happen to care that the university could actually benefit the community - if the community as a hole would support FAU both could prosper and live in harmony, but you would rather stir the crap and blow smoke then do any good for your own community.

What a bunch of A-HOLES… this is what they wrote back:

Dear Robert Seneca:

Thank you for your note. Randy Schultz is editor of the Opinion pages for The Post, and it's his responsibility to state both his opinions and newspaper's opinions in a clear, straightforward, emphatic way. I think he has done that well in the case of FAU football. There are a number of avenues for readers to offer contrasting opinions, and he's suggested you write a letter to the editor. We'd be happy to consider it for publication, and I hope you'll do so. If you're interested in promoting FAU's football program, I think working to get your views out would be far more helpful to you that dropping the paper.

Best wishes, and thanks for reading The Post.

Basically their saying that Randy is correct in the Post's view of FAU football, I say screw the Post I am never touching another one of their papers…..

Someone has to write an article. Telling them what the team has accomplished and what there going to accomplish. It has to be something other than "we averaged 10,555 fans which under the 15.000 league minimum."

Screw them that is what they want you to do. They feed off what you say in future editorials. Then it starts dividing the community. Results everything becomes a battle.

The best idea is drop the Post and let them figure it out when the Sun takes them over ;D.

Hey a least it confirms who the WE are.

I have never liked the post. The sentinel seems to do a much better job all around. The post has been filled with negative articles about FAU football. I think it hits on Bytor's point that people want to keep Palm Beach County the pristine playground of high society. Somehow having a college atmosphere would taint that in the minds of many. I think it is ridiculous. Look at how many people use the FAU faicilities whether it be to attend concerts/shows on campus or attend classes (this includes retirees, many of whom audit classes at FAU). The community as a whole seems embrace certain things about the university but despise others. The traffic issue is something completely out of control not because of FAU but because of the grid design of the streets. It is awful whether or not you are east of 95 on Glades or west of 95 on Glades and south on Military Trail. It isn't just the university. It has a great deal to do with poor city planning. GO OWLS!!!

Owlfan most of the problems are growth not the college. Your right, poor planning on the cities part. It is always easy to be part of the problem and harder to be part of the solution. In this case Randy and the men in tights at the post. "The Palm Beach Post" your daily rag filled with irresponsible non supportive journalism. I say-BYE BYE.

While I agree The Post's editorial board is a bunch of self-serving, uninformed twits, don't discount the coverage the Sports section has given FAU.

I think The Post's Sports section regularly beats the other papers on FAU stuff, especially football coverage. They had so much recruiting info, way more than the Sentinel. And not just football, their baseball and basketball coverage is pretty good too.

I seem to remember quite a few people complaining about the Sentinel's Ted Hutton for negative reporting on FAU.

Hell, the first thing I read everyday in the newspaper is the comics. ;D
