I would have to agree with this as well. Plus I could actually see him running up and down the sidelines working the refs. He's the 49ers LB coach right now, so I would have to the think the FAU job would be better than that.

If no Leach, then Leavitt has my approval. He put USF on the map. I am confident he will recruit a nasty defense which is what we are lacking.

Really?  I would say our defense is the strength of the team.  Our QB play is really all that is lacking IMO.  We would be 2-3 maybe 3-2 with Rusty or JVC.

Bringing in a marquee name would be nice, but there are tons of young coaches with plenty of potential throughout the country.  It's time to look for one of those individuals who will grow with the program.

No.  Because he sucks as a HC & a DC.

I think we need a Leach, Bowden or Leavitt style hire right now, have them, no, REQUIRE them to groom someone on the staff to take over when they inevitably leave in 3-5 years.

The other option is to look for a young coordinator or position coach, either in college or NFL,  preferably defensive minded with a large network of connections to surround himself with great coordinators and then recruit the hell out of S. Florida.

I think with the way the year is shaping up - a big name "splash" hire has to happen to keep interest in the program. You get a Leach, a Bowden, a Leavitt, or a Shannon that can recruit some guys here and we will be in some headlines, especially with the new stadium. If you get an "unknown", I am concerned that while they may be a good coach, they won't generate the kind of interest that is going to be needed with the new stadium, conference re-alignment etc. Even if we get a bigger name coach, I don't expect him to stay more than a few years honestly - but at least they can garner enough interest in the program and get it on the right track for the future. We cannot be left behind at this point, and right now we are falling behind.

Of all the people that hope to land Leach… FAU needs him most. UCLA will probably get him, but FAU needs him most!
