My gut feeling is  that Angelos wants someone that is able to recruit. He doesn't want another Howard who's number one recruiting tactic is leaving his pipe at a recruits house over night. He is looking for someone that is texting and calling recruits all day and night. The stadium is built now, so he is going to want a coach that is going to put talent out on the field right away through recruiting, player development and transfers.

Other possible candidates that I haven't seen mentioned:

Tony Franklin- (O.C. La Tech) Has coached at both Troy and MTSU. Franklin

Steed Lobotzke- (O.C. Wake) Does a lot with little talent. Air Force grad. Lobotzke

Re: Randy Shannon

Copy and paste on phone. A little sloppy but you get the point. Go Owls!

Re: Randy Shannon

Good list, but not a lot of offensive players on there.  Not that I wouldn't take Leavitt or he isn't a good coach, but if I had my choice, I'd take a offensive-minded coach like Leach.  Maybe it's just that after the last 2 seasons, I miss watching the Owls score points!  We used to be good at that… :-\

Re: Randy Shannon

I miss the offense as well. Let's get Rusty, Housler, Gent, Harmon, Jean and  willie rose back on the field. Lol. I would be thrilled to have Leavitt, Leach, Bowden, Davis or any other good caliber coach in there. Look at ULL, we have hope. Go Pwls!

Re: Randy Shannon

When did I ever discuss Leavitt with you?  Or even mention the D?

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

It's been said by many that Franklin has no interest in being a head coach.
