Well folks, it's reality time. Reality; What ya talkn bout Hooty? Well I'm talkn about a team that lacks the fundemental qualities of a winning team. They continue to make mistakes at crucial times. They continue to get foolish penalties that stops drives. They staff continue to show the inability to make adjustments as other teams adjust to us. The offense is in my view inept in comaprison to last year. Teams have adjusted to it but we can't seem to make changes that will allow for the same successes of last year. Rusty looks like a rookie/freshman. He acts as though he's afraid to get hit ie.. he refuses to step up in the pocket to deliver the pass, constatntly throwing off his back foot as he's retreating from the rush. First rate QB's step up, not retreat. So much for a 1st round draft choice this year. Guess he'll be around for another year. Defensively, we played okay. We still aren't getting a pass rush and when it counted ie.. the last minute of the game, we got none. The coaches dialed up 1 blitz but rushed 3 at a time when we needed it most. Also in the last 9 seconds, when you know they had to throw it up for grabs, I saw the db's sit underneathe around 15yd line then try to get back into coverage when the ball was thrown instead of getting their heels on the goal line in order to keep everything in front from the beginning. Also, a basic move to defend against the hail mary pass is to put in a couple of WR's to defend against it. Pros do it, other colleges do it and HS do it. We have 6'2", 6'3" receivers who can go up and either catch the ball or knock it down. These are the lil things that make the difference between winning and, well last night. But there is still hope although we now need help. But if we win out, we can still get to the NO bowl. Last hope the adjustments are made.
