Owls Focus On Running Game
Walker is running hard

Sept. 14, 2005

BOCA RATON, FL- The running game was a main focal point for Florida Atlantic University during Wednesday's practice at the Tom Oxley Athletic field.

After running for 51-yards on 5 carries against Oklahoma State, Owls' fullback, Dominick Walker showed good explosiveness during practice.

The Owls (0-2) know the importance of establishing a running attack. "We have to run the ball in order to win football games," said offensive linemen Nello Faulk.

FAU may be facing its toughest opponent of the season on Saturday, when they take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Metrodome. "Minnesota brings maturity and experience into the game, but we will be ready to play," said head coach Howard Schnellenberger.

The Gophers (2-0) will be the third non-conference opponent the Owls will face this season. Florida Atlantic is excited about playing top tier competition. "We are up for the game. We are more focused and know we need to eliminate mental mistakes," said Faulk.

The Owls and Gophers will kickoff at 8:30 p.m. EST on Saturday.

Florida Atlantic University will air the season debut of the "Howard Schnellenberger Show", tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. on Sun Sports TV. Host John McMahon will be joined by Coach Schnellenberger and quarterback Danny Embick for a half-hour of exclusive Owl coverage on Sun Sports Television.

FAU will hold practice tomorrow at 4 p.m. on the Tom Oxley Athletic fields.

Any word on Aaron Sanchez? Will he play Saturday? How does he compare to some of the underclassmen as a RB?

I've always liked Aaron in the backfield. Blocks for the TB and no complaints. Plus he will get the tough 3 yards.

D.Walker will fit in just fine. He will make you miss in the backfield if he has to.

Freshman Rose is a bruiser with speed.

So Aaron has the experience but athletically they have a couple of bodies who can step in.

I just read somewhere that Sanchez maybe Redshirted ??? Looks like he may not play Sat.

We could use him on Sat., since Dareus has shown signs that he doesn't want to block - The guys miss some easy block that could have allowed us 1st downs in thursday nights game. Very disappointed in Dareus, the guy doesn't look like his in the game.

Agree O.G. that we could use Sanchez in the backfield for his experience and blocking abilities, but it appears that his injuries will keep out for most of the season and will try to be a 5th year senior.

Imagine Sanchez next year with Edgecomb lined up behind him! Or Rod Ferguson if he comes back.

Just wacth the program - a much better poduction effort, then the WTCN version of the show last year.

Got to preview what the Dome Stadium would look Like
On the inside - One word [glow=red,2,300]WOW[/glow] ;D

This thing is going to be a very nice and top-nocth facility. Hopefully, one of the three bids that have been presented or a combination there of can bring this thing to fruition, it will be an awesome facility.

The city of Boca & PBC looks like they are behind the idea of what the Dome Stadium would bring not only to the City of Boca, but Palm Beach County as well.
