Rusty featured in Bleacherreport.com's Emerging Stars article

because he plays in the sun belt. Look at Colt Brennan he was mentioned because he threw for over 500 yards a game and his team was nationally ranked but he plays in the WAC and lost to Tebow.

It just wont ever happen not for Rusty

there is this bias that exists towards any player not on a BCS team with regards to winning the Heisman… simply put they gets no respect no matter their stats or team successes.  In fact, I cant even name the last non-BCS player to win the Heisman. Does anyone know?

The best team Hawaii played not in a bowl game was #19 Boise State when they were both undefeated at the time and they played UGA in a BCS bowl game.

I dont think we have a better schedule then Hawaii.

They play UF next season to open the season plus Oregon State, Boise State who will be good, and Cincinnati.

Boise was a conference game i was talking non conference i was also just talking about colt Brennen heismen year runwhere they played a very weak schedule rusty has a better shot at that Big Regular season Win during his career if we pull of an upset of Texas or Mich.st win a bowl game he throws 40 tds Rusty will have just as much hype as Brennen if not more.

You're missing the point here. Colt Brennan is the leading passer in NCAA history.

2nd game of the season against Louisiana Tech 43/61 548 yards 4 TD 1 Int

lets FF to the game against SJ State 44/75 545 yards 4 TDs 4 INT's

those were his 2 best passing days of the season yards wise. Compare that to Rusty…

Against Minnesota 27/44 463 Yards 5 TDs 0 INT
FF to the bowl game against Memphis 25-32 336 yards 5 TDs 1 INT

you can't even compare the two and Brennan was mentioned for Heisman because he had 4.343 yard and 38 TDs
Rusty was 3,688 yards and 32 TDs

Look at Brennan's #'s. If Rusty can put up #'s like that next season then yeah maybe he gets talked about for Heisman. Don't count on it though

Colt Brennan was mentioned because Hawaii went 12-0.

Don't forget Brennans biggest knock was that he was a system quarterback.  If Rusty even comes close stat wise he would be in a much better position than Brennan because of the system we use doesn't include passing nearly every down even on what would normally be running plays.  Now there is a huge BCS bias so I don't realistically think it could happen.
