Samford's Travis Trickett to be Hired as FAU's New Offensive Coordinator

Post

Here's what I know…young, well respected recruiter (per 24/7 sports) who has grown up under Saban, Fisher and Rodriguez and has also has spent years at a D2 school so he knows the "resource struggle" that we have too.

The offense will look a lot like WKU I think and if you hate scoring 40+ a game then you'll dislike this guy. I also think this open offense will put butts in the seats. If we become Baylor-lite and start regularly being in 45-36 games, folks will come check it out, football is fun when people are lighting it up.

If Coach Wright was responsible for recruiting that QB we just landed, then hiring Trickett should help that commitment stick.

I've always felt that Partridge has been betting on Parr being his golden ticket (he just treats him differently than the others) and this hire will showcase how good Parr is.

I love scoring 40+ points a game, especially if the opponent scores 39 or less!! Go Owls!!

The Trickett family is well known in college football.
Guys like this is why I would never go against a young OC from an FCS school for an OC or DC position.

Its also why when I hear the name Gary Nord I think it's pathetic.

This is a good hire!

Also as for turning on him I will turn on him when we have a RB Avg over 15 yards per carry in a half then only gets 1 carry in the 2nd half.
Also remember I was going to have to accept Brian Wright as OC? It was nice to see Charlie take control.
Now lets go win 9 next year.

I am more than willing to give the guy a shot if he is willing to take advantage some of the weapons we have on offense and take some shots down field, or send Trey Rod on a route of the backfield. Just something more than handing the ball off on a second and goal from 8.

Hopefully this will all fall into place, and FAU will head down the pathway of the glory days of old.

That said…

If they don't go 6-6 next season, two immediate Oxley Center associates will likely be looking for jobs.

I think oc40 deserves some credit for being positive about both this hire and saying athletics customer service is good in the other thread.

That said, I'm looking forward to changes. I'd love to put up 40+ per game, especially with our talent (parr, trey, etc).

I do NOT want to see simple football as people were talking about before with Partridge complimenting WKU's system because it's boring to watch but if that leads to wins, do it. I also never want to see us run it up the middle on 3rd and 7.

Sounds like a moral victory.

I know him. He doesn't like moral victories.  :Big-Grin:

40+ pr game wuld be wonderfull but heck, I would like 30+ even. THAT would ne a HUGE impropvement over the low 20's we had this year. Did you all realize our PK was 28-28 in PAT's this year. Yes, we only kicked 28 of em. I don't know how many 2 pt. attempts we had but that is just a sad number we you factor in the defensive TD's (4) we scored. that get's it down to 24 or ONLY 2 per game - tht was a SAD O last year, yards gained or not!

Yeah maybe. I thought I read something about a CUSA offense that doesn't do a lot of things, real simple, but they do them well.

Maybe that was Marshall.
