Re: saturday's attendance

Even when Miami was winning national championships they did not have huge attendance vs. teams like Temple.  We need to just keep winning and go to Bowl games over the next few years so that when the stadium is built regular people and students alike believe that FAU Football is for real, then the fans will come.  I would like to see UCF on the schedule EVERY season however, I really dont understand why that does not take place because it would be a sell out for both schools everytime.  Traditions with the student body will start when the new stadium is built on campus.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

its a tradition for that fraternity to go every year, tradition started before there was even a thought of a football team, they take all the pledges with them as well…..they take around 100 to 150 people every year, however this isn't the problem…….the problem is that every year FAU picks the last weekend of October to be their Homecoming week, I don't agree with it.  There is a lot to do in October for any Florida resident, especially the last week of October.  Fantasy Fest, Halloween Horror Nights, Gauvoween (however you spell it) 90% of the time the Georgia/Florida game lies on this weekend, there is sooo much to do that students rather do than go to a FAU football game….

I hate the excuse of "too much other stuff to do".  If your a fan, you go to the games.  It's 3 hours on a Saturday.  Not every college student is going away for Halloween.  Make the FAU football games the priority.  There are 5 home games….that's 5 Saturday's to commit.  It's not asking a lot.

I do agree in a way, but the students that go out and have do the halloween horror nights and fantasy fest are the same students that are outgoing, wanting to have fun and when they arrive to which ever event they choose they make the absolute best out of it…….so yes not every college student is going away for halloween, however……the alot of the great spirited ones are…….and that still hurts….

The problem is in the bold.

We talk about raising the attendance but the fact is, the fans do go to the games – which is why we have the attendance numbers we do now. We're not talking about getting fans in but new people who are FAU students (or alumni) that previously had no knowledge or interest in FAU football.

That's the hurdle to overcome and that's where "having too much other stuff to do" comes into play: a person who has previously had no interest in FAU football will choose Halloween Horror Nights or Fantasy Fest over going to their first FAU football game. That's just the reality of it.

Re: saturday's attendance

If i was still a student I'm not going to lie I would be at every single home game except for this weekend. Fantasy Fest is the best party of the year. I'm no fair weather fan either. I bought a 400 plane ticket to Greenville SC with a buddy for the NCAA tourney and neither of us had the money for us place to stay.

If Duval Street could talk, I would be in a lot of trouble. Fantasy Fest is pretty crazy when your young.

Let's see, If I'm a 22 year old college student.  Which would I do, Monroe @ FAU football saturday or the weekend in Key West for Fantasy Fest?  I understand, I was down there many years, have fun. ;D

Re: saturday's attendance

You have to invest in your team if you want it to be successful. A fraternity that plans to go out of town for Homecoming weekend has its priorities seriously out of whack.

From what I understand this frat has had this tradition way before FAU had a football team.
