Eventually he'll be the best? Like after the other guys ahead of him graduate. I think he's improved, but he still reminds me of Uncle Rusty every time I see him throw.

Troy's QB is the best, how good ours is remains to be seen. We have some good DB's and Safety's. Not a lot of depth though. Here are a few articles on some of our defensive guys:

Tavares Jones is on the Rotary Lombardi Watch List and the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Watch List. ()

Murfreesboro - The Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year watch list has been announced and Middle Tennessee's Tavares Jones is among the 27 players selected nationally.

Walden and Jones form the top defensive end duos in the conference following career years in 2006. Walden set a school record with 11.5 quarterback sacks, while Jones added 5.5 to help the Blue Raiders set a single-season record in that category.

Nickson enjoyed a career year on defense in 2006 with 61 tackles, five interceptions, two pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a sack. As a returner, Nickson was a second team all-American after returning 21 kicks for an average of 28.8 yards and two touchdowns. Nickson finished fifth nationally in return average.

Dunbar, from Waycross, Ga., has started 18 consecutive games and tallied 62 knockdowns in 2006 to go along with a cumulative grade of 76.3 percent and was the only Blue Raider lineman to start all 13 games.

Damon Nickson and Franklin Dunbar appeared on the FWAA All-America Checklist that was announced recently. ()

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Football Writers Association of America recently announced the 2007 All-American Checklist, which included two players from Middle Tennessee. Senior Damon Nickson and junior Franklin Dunbar represented the Blue Raiders and were two of seven Sun Belt players to make the preseason list.

Nickson, out of Milton, Fla., made the team as a defensive back and as a kick returner and is just one of nine players out of the 347 on the entire list to appear at two different positions.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Football Writers Association of America has announced the 2007 Outland Trophy Watch List and Middle Tennessee's Franklin Dunbar is among the nominees. A total of 41 standout linemen from across the country are being considered for this prestigious award.

Dunbar joins Louisiana-Monroe's Kyle Cunningham as the only representatives from the Sun Belt Conference.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We're not where we need to be numbers-wise. That's not an excuse, it's a fact. Hopefully we'll get there soon." ? Middle Tennessee coach Rick Stockstill, referring to the Blue Raiders having roughly 70 scholarship players. The program lost 11 scholarships two years ago due to violations.

Aslo, our best DB, Roy Polite, is back.

Also, Alex Suber is a good DB that you may not have heard of. Between him, Nickson and Polite, I think we have a decent secondary.

We have heard of him. FAU beat Bethune-Cookman for FAUs first victory ever. Bethune-Cookman's QB…Allen Suber, Alex Suber's older brother.

When Alex came out of high school FAU recruited him very heavily. We know he has talent.

GO OWLS!!!

Cool. Yeah, he was good enough to move Polite to 2nd string, for now. I think they both end up with a lot of playing time, which is good for our defense. Too bad you guys didn't play us when we were first going 1A. Our defense stunk, but then again, you played us with Coach McCollum and beat us. If you knew Coach McCollum, that's not a difficult feat. If our defense keeps improving as it has, we should get some decent OOC wins in the next few years.
