Schnellenberger adapts to recruiting changes

I'd have to agree with HRD. Yes, Schelly is getting a little long in the tooth, but if it wasn't for his name and history, we would be nowhere right now. I do think that we are a perfect school to have someone join the staff this year as an assistant, get familiar with the new team, and then be named HCIW for next year, or the year after. I think that would give us the best of all worlds as in allowing current coach to open his new house, keep his name recognition, and offer players some continuity for the next couple years.
Perfect post. Couldn't agree more.

Here's the best part:
On recruiting services
"With all the recruiting services offered, a lot of programs let them do the groundwork that we have our assistant coaches do during spring football."
I truly believe that Van V can offer a much better assessment than some dude in his mom's basement running Scout.com…stars or no stars.
Recruiting services that schools use is not rivals or Scout, there are agencies with real scouts (former NFL/College coaches) who specialize on one area and they then sell their information on a year to year basis. It is huge $$ and the reason why some schools spend over a million dollars just on recruiting to sign 25 players. Schools get detailed scouting reports, up to date film of games, and even updated grade reports in a few cases. These scouts sell their information to every school wiling to pay the high price. The scout does not recruit the player just scout every player in an area. They then tell schools so the coaches who subscribe already know the player before ever meeting them.
Scout.com and rivals are for fans NOT coaches and why coaches tell their fan bases not to believe the websites. Imagine 100 times the detail you get from ESPN insider and that is what recruiting services are.

You will see less and less schools go to HCIW simply bc the NCAA now has put the same recruiting restrictions of a HC on those who have HCIW or implied role. For those who don’t know a HC can only meet with recruit once during key period of recruiting season like your coach said in the interview. Not saying HCIW is a bad thing for FAU but it has it limitations on recruiting side which means other coaches have to pick up the recruiting slack. schools are limited on how many coaches you can have so what one coach can't do has to be be done by another or a recruiting service.

I hope nobody really thought coaches used scout or rivals to find out who to recruit or that coaches just randomly chose high schools to scoutSideshow2313 said

Mark Richt does…
I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

nobody does (I don't think) but every "recruiting expert" on this board is f*ing obsessed with the arbitrary star ratings on those sites which was my point.
