I truly believe that Van V can offer a much better assessment than some dude in his mom's basement running Scout.com…stars or no stars.

Recruiting services that schools use is not rivals or Scout, there are agencies with real scouts (former NFL/College coaches) who specialize on one area and they then sell their information on a year to year basis. It is huge $$ and the reason why some schools spend over a million dollars just on recruiting to sign 25 players.  Schools get detailed scouting reports, up to date film of games, and even updated grade reports in a few cases. These scouts sell their information to every school wiling to pay the high price.  The scout does not recruit the player just scout every player in an area. They then tell schools so the coaches who subscribe already know the player before ever meeting them.

Scout.com and rivals are for fans NOT coaches and why coaches tell their fan bases not to believe the websites. Imagine 100 times the detail you get from ESPN insider and that is what recruiting services are.

I hope nobody really thought coaches used scout or rivals to find out who to recruit or that coaches just randomly chose high schools to scout

nobody does (I don't think) but every "recruiting expert" on this board is f*ing obsessed with the arbitrary star ratings on those sites which was my point.

NONE of you are as good as what we have on the payroll. period.

I mean you should go celebrate these monumental achievements! I'm sure with the great Walty at the helm with his 1983 ideology the program will continue to soar.
