A few years ago when we played UF we were walking to the stadium when some of their fans asked if we have any chants or anything special we do? We said no we don't have any chants like the go gators or the 2-bit guy.

We have "Who let the Owls out. Who, Who, Who who". But that seriously needs to be eradicated from FAU's history, like ASAP.

Haha, I guess there are some traditions that need to go.

I voted for use both, Blue wave for the nickname and Owl as our mascot. But if nothing else, IT HAS TO BE USED AS THE BAND"S NAME!!!!!!!!!!!

That wouldn't be a bad comprimise.

We can use both more importantly we should come up with some traditions Ithink this yr can be bigger as far as fan attendance than the 07 and 08 seasons we should start to implement chants n fights etc

I would NEVER tell anyone about who let the Owls out. Way too embarressing

When the survey was done the name Owls won overwhelmingly.  We now have some (very little but some) tradition and winning behind us including two bowl wins.  Leave it alone, this is going to go no where but I thought I would put in my two cents.

I know it's not an option but what about Fighting Owls. 

I think the blue wave idea is a great for the university and for south florida...it markets how relative area...owls doesnt seem south florida when you first hear it, keep it as the mascott and our stadium will be like the stadium in honolulu for the NFL....

Blue Wave would be a great change! Despite the longevity of "Owls", it has not given us an identity. Gators, Canes, and Noles are unique – Owls are generic, especially among mid majors. The idea to keep the Owl as the mascot and name teams Blue Wave (I first saw it during rebranding) is really exciting.

Personally, I don't have much attachment to "Owls", and most of the merchandise I've seen emphasizes FAU, not Owls. Unfortunately, Owls is a forgettable name, Blue Wave is distinct and memorable.

The Owls are an important part of FAU, but they are from a different era. Blue Wave is something people can identify with and will be curious about.
