By the way, this just strengthens my opinion that FAU HAS TO get out of the Sunbelt. There would not even be an issue of not having a school band in a REAL conference!
Heck, there are many much smaller schools such as Jacksonville State in the FCS with a band of over 300!!! There are hundreds of high schools with bands over with 200 -300 members. Band is important to both the students as a legitimate student activity and to the school and their sports for game atmosphere and spirit!

Our band should show up and together with them, all of us make an issue in support of the FIU band. Like all corporations, the higher-up have decided to sacrifice the little guy (in this case the student band) to preserve their own positions. I say make a BIG issue of it by our being there for our team and school, and for FIU too! We should kick FIU's ass of course!

Good idea. Half of our band volunteer to give up their instruments and lend them to FIU's band for the game. It's a show of solidarity and would lead to some great opportunities for national exposure.

I seriously hope it does not come down to FIU not having a band, but if it does, it would be good for both schools in terms on national exposure, possibly even a good shot at some serious fundraising for the band programs!
It's a nice gesture yes. However this is college football not romper room. I'm sorry, you don't have a bad sucks for you! We don't have a stadium I don't see anyone over at FIU being to concerned with that
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

How does our band forgoing the Shula bowl help FIU's band program?
It would be out of respect, and the only reason we would do it, is because we are somewhat close. Say if we were going to Ark st. and they didn't have a band, then we'd probably still go. I think its a nice gesture, but I don't know about it, I guess I could go either way on it. Maybe we could just go and play in the stands and not march halftime. But I just hope that they actually have a band so we can avoid all this.

Maybe they shouldn't have spent all their money on that stadium and hiring Isiah Thomas.
