Smile... Its a New Era

Hey guys sorry about how your season ended. I was really pulling for you guys to make a bowl. Even though you lost it was still nice to finally get a chance to watch the old fightin Owls on ESPN. Even though your season ended on a sour note don't let it get you down for next year. Opening a stadium will completely change the mentality of your players. In 2006 UCF went 4-8 and I think one of those wins was against South Dakota School of Type Writing (Go InkBlots!) so to say those wins were pathetic would be an understatement. The next year UCF went 10-4, won the conference and nearly upset Texas. So remember, HS will get the job done. No matter how old he gets that man knows how to coach and be sure to watch the stadium webcam everyday because you only get one chance to watch your stadium being built.

Cheers

Great post, congrats on the CUSA championship.

Re: Smile... Its a New Era

Lets get started on the recruiting thing we dont have a bowl to prepare for…We have a lot of good players on the map lets put on an aggressive push and try to land a couple this should be a pretty big recruiting class and lets prepare for next year in our new stadium with Howard leading the way…we have 4 Qb's may the best (not oldest) one win the battle…It was not pretty but in a down yr 4-8 isn't that bad considering what we had too replace

That is a long term four year trend, not an "aberation" or a "bad year". And as they say "respect the trend"

Re: Smile... Its a New Era

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that I am just glad this season's over.  Who know's whats gonna happen next year.  I can't wait for our stadium to open, but let's be realistic, I don't think it will be the "magic bullet" for our program.  We're still missing something, and I'm not sure what it is.  I have all the respect in the world for coach, and I will continue to support him, but it really does seem like he is losing touch.  He kinda just looked "stunned" on saturday when they showed him on TV.  Combine that with the fact that we've never really dominated a team in a win (We ran it up pretty good on FIU once, but thats one game in 8 yrs).

I'm rambling as there are a lot of thoughts going through my head, but Blackandgold is right, UCF had been a doormat program for years, and then with their new stadium, magic happended.  With all the bad press they recieved over the last few years (the O'leary scandal, the Plancher death), they've still got the recruits and got the wins.  I think we can do better.  With that said, next year will be tough, we will have a whole team full of unknowns, a tough schedule, and a new home to fill.  I look at it this way, we really can't do any worse next year.  Sure, our record could go a little lower, but who cares.  If your not atleast bowl eligible, than you've wasted a season, and whether its 4 wins, 2 wins or 0 wins, it don't matter.

GO OWLS! LETS OPEN OUR HOUSE ON A POSITIVE NOTE!

FAU - We got Bowls!
