what i don't understand is if Howard comes out and says it says its nothing to do with the talent/speed/etc… then it has to be the coaching. if the potential is there but players aren't playing to that potential that's 100% coaching.

Time for a change. I would go after a top high school coach to help with the recruiting.

Get the D coach from St. Thomas, think they are ranked best in the state.

a solid HS coach might be a good idea, they defend against the spread regularly, and the coaches from St. Thomas already know how to recruit but I'd much rather have the Pahokee or Belle Glade HC come on our staff over St. Thomas, that's where we need to get our recruits from!

but that's not gonna happen *sigh*

That being said how do we "FIX" it?

Our defensive situation reminds me of the scene in Me, Myself, and Irene where Hank hits the cow and is trying to shoot it to put it out of its misery.  Our defense has been our weak spot for…well, a long time, but it just won't die, and we keep doing the same thing every play.

It's time for some changes, everyone can see that.  I know HS isn't big on changing staff, but we have a problem here, and it needs to be fixed, or else all our accomplishments during the last 2 years will be wasted.

IMO a complete overhaul is in order, UAB's O cut thru the our defense like a knife thru butter. UAB's O buttered our bread and then had a feast, as a matter of fact they called the Pillsbury Doughboy and thanked him for sending his redheaded stepchild - aka FAU defense - to the stadium. I was at the game and it got to the point where I was not surprised when UAB broke a big run, I was to the point where I expected it to be every next play. If it hadn't been for the endzone UAB would be still running on us, I began to question their OC as to why he would even pass.

Rant over, sadly season continues…

I hope for respectable showings in these last few games, but this is truly rock bottom from my perspective

Hey guys, the good news is, the D can't play much worse now can it??? Let's see if these guys have the heart and character that Howard says these 1, 2 and star recruits have, that he prefers over the 4 and 5's. I sure hope he is right , but as I said at first, at least they can't play much worse! And as they say, the only way to go from here is up.

Yes the D can only go up but whose to say when that will happen, if anything I think they'll stay about where they are for now. Only a tremendous off season will being cause for substantial improvement

Not all the kids from the Glades are polished enough acedemically for FAU to take a chance on them…

That is why I mentioned that there is no quick fix, it will take the off-season to make any major improvements.

I had hopes they would come together as a group…it has happen.  Must knew before the start of the season the defense was going to be the weak link, just that this weak.

Changes do need to be made, keep repeating the same things & you will get the same results.
