The odd thing about the attendance issue is that some schools fudged the attendance numbers. I think we all know FIU did not draw anywhere close to the amount of people it reported last year. But it got away with not falling below the 15k minimum. FAU, however, has always been pretty accurate, if not low, on its reporting and could be penalized.

In reality, though, FAU drew way more fans last year (and this year) than FIU.

Some 'Belt schols play "home" games away from home, and even in other states! That sure defeats the purpose of the attendance rule.

I have not been to an FIU home game so I wouldn't know what thier attendance actually looks like, but they could've had someone step up and buy a bunch of tickets too and just not tell anyone.  Bottom line is that the NCAA accepted what they reported and found no infractions in what they reported.  I do agree with you though about this year.  There's no way FIU averages 15,000 at the rate they're going, and FIU is averaging significantly less than FAU.

As far as playing home games away from their stadiums, well, FAU does it too every other year against FIU.  The NCAA doesn't have a problem with it, so we shouldn't either.

The issue of your attendance was brought up by your own fans in this thread.  That's why I posted the information in this thread rather than starting a new one.  I think the reason why you believe I'm trying to start an argument is because I'm one of very few Sun Belters that surfs all the conference's messageboards and FAU just so happened to beat us this year, and I wasn't happy about it.  You assume my coming back and stating facts and realistic opinions as smack just because we lost a game back on September 1st and have only won one game since.  It bothers me that you guys think that this is the reason and it bothers me that you try to rub our 1-5 record in my face because you assume that.

Really? Oh then we're totally screwed. You know how many college kids go to Fantasy Fest? Sheeesh.

In FAU's defense, they really have tried to make a great Homecoming this year. I thought Homecoming last year was great, especially the window-painting in the Student Union. Stuff like that means a LOT. This year they're doing a float parade – don't know if you guys knew that – with clubs/Greeks building the floats. They want to do it so eventually, ten years down the line, all of Boca comes to FAU (even people unaffiliated with the university) to see this.

School spirit is on the rise but again, it's a slow process. Homecoming could have been a bigger deal but the Davenport thing took a significant amount of money away from the Homecoming fund.

Homecoming is going to be a big deal when we have 5000 kids on campus, alumni want to come home, the Homecoming football game is against a big name school,  and more people want to volunteer.

The numbers that are provided are actual butts in the seats, as opposed to actual paid, which is the number that the NCAA goes by - that numbers is greater anyway, I have no doubt by years-end the numbers will be where they need to be for us to maintan the required 15K.  So, at first glance it may look like we are not in compliance.

Using actual attendance gives us a much better gauge as to the growth of our fan base, then if we used actual paid numbers, which I am assuming are used for the NCAA required numbers.

That is a legitimate home game because FAU has no real home stadium.

That's almost like USC/UCLA. I remember as a kid, when they both shared the L.A. Colesium as their home stadium.
