Which state has the sweet sauce?

I think its NC but not sure.

Good thing is there appears to be a plethora of knowledgeable BBQ experts on this thread.

Oh and the Best BBQ in Boca or S. Florida IMHO.

TOMS!

North Carolina is vinegar based, Im not a giant fan but they seem to love it. South Carolina has a lot of mustard based and tomatoe based (the sweet stuff that your talking about).

Smitty, I like good beef BBQ texas style too on occasion.  My smoker is no stranger to brisket.  However in the Carolinas if you were to order that they would look at you like you just stepped out of an UFO.  BBQ is all about the pig up there.  As far as sauces go vinegar based is prevalent in eastern NC and the upstate area of SC that was my home.  Mustard based is found in central SC.  Tomato sauce is found in the upstate regions of NC and SC.  Its all good.  I prefer a dry rub with a vinegar sauce.

If you get thirsty and want a good beer be sure to check out the Flying Saucer in the Vista.  They have an absolutely excellent selection.  They have a bevy of beautiful barmaids all dressed out in micro-mini versions of plaid school girl outfits.  There has been more than one occasion when I have had to do a three legged walk out of the place.  Here they are:

OK you guys have Magic Hat! Oh We are so going to be there. Do they sell Magic Hat in liquor stores up there too? They don't have it down here, which is a good thing because if they did I think I'd be drunk every day lol. Kind of like OwlCountry40 haha

So far I've heard we need to go Flying Saucer and Pigs BBQ. We'll probably be up there Friday afternoon, leave Sunday morning. Any other suggestions?

The grocery stores by me… the beer selection is 3 times the size of the larger publix's beer selections. But Asheville has a big micro beer following, including a handful of brewery's. Magic Hat (VT) is good, but Highland Gaelic Ale & Duck Rabbit Brown Ale (both NC beers) if the saucer has them, check them out, good stuff!
