Speaking of tickets...

They should have made this new process clear much earlier but everyone will figure it out quickly.

Re: Speaking of tickets...

Fau is instituting this new process of printing out a student ticket at a bad time in FAU football. The team needs all the support they can get from the student body.FAU's slogan is "making waves" similarly the school spirit is a wave sometimes their is tremendous support and other times people really just do not care. Right now FAU football is coming off a huge down year and with this new regime under Carl's power needs to start off on the right foot. Printing out the tickets is unnecessary and will only prevent students from going to the game. I will be representing the owls at FGCU for the first meet of the year so unfortunately ill miss the chaos. I did print out a ticket just in case i can catch the end.Printing out the ticket is a hassle all on its own. I followed the directions on the page and still had trouble printing it out. I can only imagine the number of students that will be bitching once they find out they had to print the ticket. FAU's lack of organization and communication with their students is going to lead to more students staying at the tailgate than in the stands.

Re: Speaking of tickets...

Sounds like you guys are having many of the same headaches we had in our first year with the stadium. For the first game against USF students were told we gad to go to the ticket office the week before the game, pick up a "ticket voucher," which then had to be exchanged on gameday for an actual ticket. Then, after all that, they just started letting students into the game with a flash of their ID because, turns out, most students don't pay attention to the massive amount of mail generated by the school.
It all comes down to poor communication and execution on the part of the athletic department and the student services. Most of the time the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.

Re: Speaking of tickets...

I imagine students will be able to get in with just an ID card until they get used to the idea...at least I hope so

Re: Speaking of tickets...

I think this is making a mountain out of a molehill ATM.

The email went out about printing tickets. Hopefully the majority of people have done so.

Now for game day its simple, You let anyone in with an Owl card. People with printed tickets have thier own gate so they get in quicker.  You give those without a printed tickler a flyer with the new procedure and notice that for the next home game you will not be admitted without a printed ticket.

For the next game, you STILL allow Owl Cards (without telling folks that) and do the same procedure.

Now for the 3rd game you stick to your guns. However there SHOULD be a way for students to print a ticket at the gate, just make sure that those who have pre printed get in first and easily because they are prepared.

Why not have a table at the Rats Mouth tailgating with SGA people walking around reminding people to print thier tickests and directing them to the booth.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Owlfamily just hit it on the head, but instead of a table telling people where to go, how about a table by the SGA, with a several laptops, and printers connected to them for students to print out the tickets right there. Then the students who dont have the tickets dont have to run back to the dorm, library, or business center to print them out.

We definitely are. But it's not because we think the ticket system is a bad idea overall, it's just not a good idea to be so strict with it right now in the program's development.

Remember we're talking about the same group of students that year in and year out will drive around in circles for an hour waiting for a close parking spot to open up and then b!tch about being late to class and it's all FAU's fault and FAU sucks

rather than

realizing that there's only so much parking, it fills up quickly, park farther away and walk to get to your class on time. Or show up early like a responsible adult.

That's what concerns me.

18 and 19 year old students drinking on a saturday…responsible adults???  Not sure I could have said that for myself.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Re: Speaking of tickets...

Is your AD really blaming the HS games for the poor ticket sales

Not only are the Owls coming off a 1-11 season, but they are playing an FCS (Football Championship Subdivision, formerly Division I-AA) school and competing with the opening night of high school football, including West Boca at Boca Raton. The Boca Raton campus is less than a mile from the FAU campus.

As of Friday, more than 24,000 tickets available for FAU’s opener | www.palmbeachpost.com
