How about other athletes, like baseball, softball, track? Are any of those people sick from the food?

I've had food poisoning once. Not a fun thing at all!!!

Didn't they all have away games though?

IMO when the Cafeteria opens again the food will probably be the best served of any university in the country.

Went there today the food is still bad. Only difference is it seems like a ghost town in there. And that you can't get any food yourself. You can't make your self a salad, can't get pizza and can't put your own cheese on your burgers. Ohh and they shut down the center area where they normally did stir fry and stuff and that is where you get your salad made.

Spring - Injuries?

Here's the latest update:

Florida Atlantic University values the health, safety and well-being of all its staff, faculty, students and visitors. Over the past few days, the University has worked closely with Department of Health officials to determine the cause of an illness that made several individuals sick at the University. The University will continue its coordination with the Department of Health in an effort to take any and all appropriate steps to limit the extent of the virus' outreach.

Upon learning that members of the FAU community were displaying illness symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping, the University immediately closed the Centre Marketplace, which seemed to be a common thread in many of the illnesses being reported, and voluntarily performed a detoxification of that environment. In addition to this, and in an abundance of caution, the University has requested a special detoxification clean-up of residence hall bathrooms, cafeterias, the University Center, the Student Services Support Building, other public restrooms and some of the larger academic classrooms. The University is also seeking to purchase and distribute permanent hand sanitizers for public use.

Again, in an abundance of caution, the University advises all members of the University community to remain vigilant in maintaining a clean atmosphere in an effort to assist in limiting the spread of this illness. Some precautions include washing hands frequently, especially after toilet visits, and before or while preparing food; thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting contaminated surfaces immediately after an episode of illness by using a bleach-based household cleaner; immediately removing and washing clothes or linens that may be contaminated with virus after an episode of illness; and flushing or discarding any vomitus and/or stool in the toilet and making sure that the surrounding area is kept clean. You may also wish to visit the Department of Health's website, http://www.doh.state.fl.us/, for other suggestions on maintaining a healthy environment.

If you are exhibiting symptoms related to the ones listed above, or if you have questions regarding the virus, please call FAU Student Health Services at 561-297-2276 or the Health Department at 561-840-4500 (evenings and weekends) or 561-840-4566 (8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday).

It is our hope that, to the greatest degree possible, the University will be able to limit the spread of this virus. Florida Atlantic University has been working around the clock since being made aware of this situation to provide all students, faculty staff and visitors a healthy environment. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.

For more information, including a Q&A related to the health advisory and additional information on the University's status, please visit www.fau.edu/advisory . Updates will be made daily to this site.

Nice response. It may not be what everyone want to hear but it is a step in the right direction for corrective and preventive actions.

If it was a virus then it wasn't caused by spoiled food. Are they even sure its a virus?

That's what we were wondering. One of the football guys brought it up to one of the workers in the caf and she got pretty pissed off. She claimed it was something the football guys had and that none of the caf workers caught it and they all eat the food so it wasn't the caf's fault. But I know so many different people that got sick there is no way it just spread person to person and the only common denominator between any of the people who got sick was the cafeteria.

Thats my point too……if it was a virus it was definately one to be studied. Everyone comes down w/ the exact same symptoms, on the exact same days? Dont viruses usually have different strands and get passed from person to person during a period of time? So if it were a virus more people should just be starting to get sick now as well as this past weekend. All I know is I am not using the rest of my meal plan, I dont care how safe they've made it. Easter leftovers from the family dinner are fine with me ;)

Does anybody know if this is the same cafe group from 2000? Now that would be interesting if it is.

I'm starting a new thread on the FAU sickness in the non-sports section. This is too important to be buried in a football injuries thread.
