Stadium way better than expected, traffic plan a disaster !@

Arrived at East University Drive at 12:05 trying to get into Parking Lot Yellow Two.  The “Police Officer” (who was standing practically next to the lot) directed all traffic to make a “U” turn and enter through West University Drive.  After driving all the way around campus we were told by the “Police Officer “ there, that the only entrance to Yellow Two was through the East side.  Again after driving all around the campus, the original “Officer” indicated he was corrected ….and allowed us in.  The incompetence of the whole situation cannot be described!

I parked in Zone 1 and had no problems whatsoever getting out.  We left with about 5 mins remaining in the game.  I was blown away by the stadium design.  Concession stand service was terrible.

FIU is doing a pretty good job recruiting locally.  I hope with this new facility we can start attracting more talent.

We tried to get a taxi but had to walk to Spanish River to meet him.  Insane

This might be the only stadium in NCAA where leaving earlier is worse for traffic then when the final horn sounds.

If you think it was bad getting out this time, imagine how it would have been had people actually stayed until the end of the game.  I doubt there were more than 3,000 around at the end.

We were there in a traffic jam trying to park in lot 2 by the burrow at 12:30, it took us 20 mins. The real bad experience was picking up the tickets at will call making the line for over 1 hour with Rusty dad and some other family. I missed over an hour of tailgate quality time. Eventually during the last 20 minutes of the line, Rusty came to make the line as well. I give our school a pass for being the first time, but I hope for the next big game, probably opening game next year, they are better prepared.

Well, maybe, but they haven't had a real test yet.  Think about a close game that's decided on the final play, and 30,000 people all trying to leave at the same time.  Now let's all picture that for a second.

Back to your OP – I had the same thought coming in.  I commented to my friends when I was stuck on Glades Rd. that they were just letting the traffic lights do their jobs.  However, it felt like they extended the left turn arrow on the west entrance (don't know about the east), so at least that made things a little easier.  There's no way I make that light on a weekday from where I was in line.  Maybe the extended turn lanes, when they're finally done, will help a little (and I'm sure that was supposed to be ready before yesterday).

We did the whole "arrive early and stay late" plan. Had no problem getting in and parking in green 2 at 11:45am.

Our caravan of 5 cars got there at 11:30 a.m. and were told absolutely NO TAILGATING before noon in the Orange Lots… Nevermind the fact people were already set up tailgating in the lots near the Burrow. And when I asked the nice lady officer "Well where do you want us to wait?" she politely replied "I don't know, just drive around because you can't stay here."

But once in, no problems. After the game we did get quite a few "friendly" reminders from FAUPD we had to pack up and leave, quickly.

No problem getting in or out. Compared to other college games I've been to including some of the FAU away games, the traffic moved quick. Part of that was due to the fact that quite a few left early. Once we got to the car, we were back at the motel in about 15 minutes.

We park in Yellow zone 1 next to the rec center.  Got in about 12:35pm.  Didn't have a single glitch.  Had some traffic getting out, but for a big event, it was nothing.

All-in-all, for a first-ever event, I thought it was incredible (except for the football game).
