SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

Why are these Blue Raiders fans spending so much time on our board???  I don't think any Owls fans have gone to their board talking trash since the week we played them.  Usually that's how this works.  You are allowed to go come here on game week, then you go away and let the board's own fans have their board back.

Really, I have no problems with MTSU fans, or anyone, coming here, so long as it is to engage in a discussion.  But with these guys(more specifically one guy), the discussion always disolves into insults.  We get it, you think we suck and you guys are great…there's no need for you to keep telling us, we know your opinion.

Great point, and it should be that way - if you can't go on another teams board and bring anything to the table then don't post.  We should be able to have a discussion like grown men (hopefully educated), smack talk should be reserved for game week.

We have FAU beat in every single athletic facility and once our baseball renovation is complete, we'll have Troy beat in every athletic facility, save for football, which we're pretty even in.

Athletic Facilities: Troy vs MTSU

Football: Even.
(However, FAU will have the Belt's most impressive on-campus stadium in the future.)

Baseball: Even.
Currently, Troy and MTSU are both renovating/expanding their Baseball facilties. Both programs will have top Baseball facilities soon.

Basketball: Advantage MTSU (until 2012/2013).

Re: SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

I just took a look at the Blue Raiders board.  Our friend "Raiderinthezone" started a thread about us being overrated and how he hates that we think we are too good for the conference.  Seems he can't stop talking about us.  I guess it's a sign of how far we've come that people hate us!  Anyway, I don't think anyone here thinks we are too good for the Sun Belt(at least I don't feel that way), but what is wrong with discussing what comes next?  I mean, I don't think any team in the conference is aspiring to remain in the Belt as it is currently constructed.  The goal is to win a National Championship, right??  So until the Sun Belt is associated with the BCS or there is a playoff system, shouldn't everyone's goal be to reach a BCS conference?

This is just like people on the anygivensaturday board slamming us for wanting to move up to I-A.

I'm not going to stoop to his level and invade their board about this.  I realize nobody there cares what my opinion is so I will respect that and keep the discussion on OUR board.  If only we could be extended the same courtesy.  There is no reason all of our threads have to be hijacked by opposing team's fans.  On game week….bring it on.  The rest of the year…there is a Sun Belt message board for a reason.

Re: SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

While I agree we should always move forward (BCS in the Future), I still think the SunBelt has the potential to be a tight conference albeit not the way it is configured right now. There are definite geographic advantages, and if the schools that seem to be on the right track: Troy, MTSU, FAU keep up their level of competition and recruiting, the conference will get stronger.

BTW this is no slight against other programs (ULLM, NT) as we had to pull our ass out of the fire in both those games.

I look at Willie Rose and Rusty Smith as good examples of players that weren't heavily recruited by the power house schools. There are many quality recruits out there that might be a 3 or 4 on a bigger program that see the advantages of coming into a conference where they will play.

I just think there might be a bigger picture picture here that some of us (myself included) don't see yet.

Beware the talons of the Mighty Owls!

I really wish everyone would just ignore the jackass, he will go away once he realizes no one is paying attention to his childish jealousy crap.

I agree with Dusky Bball is coming up trash talk can start over there (which I'm positive of), we are done with them in football till next year - so Bye Bye :P

As far as the Sunbelt is concerned with the schools picking up talent more and more every year I could see it possibly becoming as strong as the SEC in about twenty years maybe sooner. I that seems far fetched but I believe D-1A schools are becoming more balanced. I also think they should dump the BCS and go to Playoffs and to much $$$ keeps the BCS right where it is for now anyway.

Re: SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

Talon, you're right (again). The haves (BCS schools and their presidents) get the dollars. The likelihood of them agreeing to share is, well, not very high. The scary thing for them, in addition to the aforementioned greed quotient, is that they would run a far greater risk of letting some of the other very talented schools into their final-ranking party. This would not please alums, particularly those who pony up the big bucks. We must realize that college athletics, especially at the traditionally strong football schools, is a very big business. Do not waste time seeking noble actions or reactions because you won't find them. It's all about this: We have it, and we're not going to let you into the party. The only way to smash through this is for the NCAA to develop backbone and stand up to the largest schools. I'll leave everyone else to judge how likely this is. Me? I have to go shovel snow. We have 5 inches in Metro Denver (Broncos play Steelers here tonight), and it still is coming down. The mountains are up to more than 16 inches. This (and the screwy nature of NCAA Div. 1A football, whatever it is called this year) is why they distill and sell whiskey.
