SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

I hope it's ok to post only Troy related facts on FAU's board.

RITZ who paid for your Basketball arena?? I believe the state of Tennessee, i.e. Tennessee's tax payers.

Basketball: Troy will start a $30 million fundraising campaign soon with the objective to build a new multipurpose arena (8,000 seats). Renderings will be released next year. I don't think MTSU's 1970s multipurpose arena will be "better" than a state-of-the-art multipurpose arena built in 2012 (despite MTSU's upgrades). Troy will have 2 on campus arenas by 2012, maybe 2013. The smaller arena will be used for Volleyball games.

Baseball: Troy and MTSU will both have great Baseball facilties. I checked MTSU's renderings and I was impressed. Btw, Troy is not just renovating but expanding its Baseball complex (new building for locker rooms, offices + new turf and a new videoboard, etc.).

Raider: Your lack of command of the facts is comical. It is amazing anyone pays an attention to you.

Troy has brand new soccer and track facilities in their own stadium with press facilities, concessions, rest rooms and the like. They are beautiful. I was there for the Troy-FAU women's game on Sunday and enjoyed myself immensely.

FAU also has a nice new track facility (does soccer use it?).

Troy's tennis and softball facilities are large and nice. Troy's tennis complex hosts pro tournaments each year.

Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium was funded by a variety of sources, including the City of Troy, the university, suite and club level payments and more. Richard Scrushy (HealthSouth) made a donation that enabled some of the previous stadium renovation during the 1-AA days. He and his name are long gone from Troy. Movie Gallery is providing up to $5 million of stadium funding, nowhere near the majority of what was spent.

Your outdoor "suites" enable your donors to hang out over the visiting band and blast air horns into the students' ears while yelling "Who's your daddy?" While Troy's suite owners and club level donors are enjoying amenities not unlike what one would find at Dolphin Stadium, I'm sure the suit purchasers at MTSU have a great view of your team losing late leads (to Troy and FAU) and conference championships - and seeing your team members celebrate with special T-shirts and hats, only to have them ripped away and presented minutes later to the visiting team.

Oh and I seem to remmber that Troy - depsite its admittedly inferior and soon-to-be-replaced arena - beat MTSU twice last year.

Who's your daddy?

Re: SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

I'm happy to have Troy fans post here, but I think I speak for the majority when I say who cares about any of this?  Why are we comparing Troy and MTSU's facilities on the FAU Football board?!?

I'm all for a discussion of facilities and what other conference teams are doing, and it can be interesting without insults and name calling involved, but no offense, I don't care how Movie Gallery Stadium was funded.  If MTSU fans and Troy fans want to agrue with eachother, please take it your own boards…you'd actually be doing us a big favor.

Re: SunBelt - CUSA Shake-up?

I will LOCK this Thread for NOW, as it has now gone way beyond any form of compliance in many areas.

We have boards set-up to talk about these type of stuff and this board & thread is not the correct place to do so.

I will also make a suggestion for RaiderintheZone, I DO NOT want to ban anyone, but I will ask you to take a voluntary leave for a few weeks to let thing settle down.  I am asking this so that I will not have to ban my first member, even if it only a ban of a few weeks.

I have worked way to hard to build this community to where it is now and I DO NOT what to start losing members over these trivial things that should be discussed without personal attacks and degrading others or others Alma Mater's.  There is a time & place for everything & one reason I have not started a smack board, I do not want this type of stuff taking over a place to stay informed on not only FAU, but other Belt schools.  During gameweek it is one thing, but after that it just should not happen, there are ways to discuss topics without turning it into a pissing match.

This thread is now OFFICIALLY closed.  Lets move on, please.  If some of you want to continue some of the discussion that where on this thread, just start a new thread in it's appropriate board.
