A merger of the Mountain West and the WAC would be ironic. The Mountain West was created by WAC schools breaking away from the WAC.

But then the Mtn. West lost all of its prime programs! I hope with Angelos gone our chances of moving ouit of the Belt improved as his "style" of doing nothing sucked! I don't beleive he ever wanted to move out of the Belt.

UNLV president says:

"Getting our formation agreement was a big step," Smatrest said. "A couple of our institutions are awaiting confirmation from governing agencies, but they have verbally committed to the conference."

"I'm pretty sure we'll be looking at expanding up a bit in numbers," Smatrest said. "We're working out details on scheduling, and I anticipate there will be a form of a playoff system involving the top teams leading up to a championship game."

He also says details should be worked out by July 1st.

Now lets see how our AD situation takes shape, Perhaps the timing of Craigs dismissal, (Beyond what was mandated by his contract) IS in regards to the time line of teams being announced for addition.  Remember AD's dont dictate who gets invited to a confrence, Presidents do and perhaps President Saunders is acting pro actively to postin FAU properly.
