Tailgating Questions

Good day, rivals to the north. I was wondering if any of you would be kind enough to fill me in on the tailgating scene at your new stadium. What time is setup allowed? Is there an official vs unofficial tailgate area?
I wish I could say I was actually looking forward to this game. I don't know what happened to our team this year, apart from Orlando's awful defensive schemes. I think our players read too much of their own preseason press and thought teams were going to roll over for them. I also think that the SBC teams are extra motivated to send us out of the conference with our tails dragging, which they have been successful at.
Either way, I've been looking forward to visiting your new stadium since it opened. Hope some of you will stop by my tailgate the day of the game.

Re: Tailgating Questions

Hey Amber Kitty, here's the link for tailgate policy

It sucks that this will be our last game. However, I wish FIU failure in CUSA (just kidding). I am going to miss the rivalry.

Re: Tailgating Questions

Happy to help, we're really looking forward to getting you guys one last time, especially in our new home.

Tailgating starts 4 hours before the game, but for our last Friday kickoff, I arrived right at 4pm (for an 8pm kick) and there were plenty of other folks already set up and going strong, so I think you'd be safe even arriving earlier than that if you were so inclined. Here's a map of the parking situation for visitors: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/fau/sports/m-footbl/auto_original/6458265.jpeg

If I were driving in and paying to park (green cash lots), I think the places I'd most likely go are the lot next to the basketball arena (enter Zone 1 and it's the last green lot on the left before the bend in the road) or the skinny green lot just below the Silver lots over on the east side kind of near that limited access entrance. That lot is pretty close to the stadium and seems to get a little crowd in it from what I can see where I tailgate. Both these are the prime cash lots and will have the most people in them and neither are too far from the stadium.

As for your team, I'd be lying if I didn't say I've enjoyed you losing as much as us winning, the few times we have this year. What's the status on your QB and RB? Is Medlock back at 100%? What about Rhodes? I'm sure that played a big part in your struggles.

You know what, all smack talking and joking aside, the FIU games have always added a spark to the schedule.

Will miss that…….

So will they, when they're getting their asses handed to them in C-USA

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Tailgating Questions

The three best tailgating choices for visitors and non-season ticket holders are:

Green Lot 1 - In front and (as it gets later and more crowded) behind FAU Arena. Take the westernmost entrance to FAU off Glades Road and see the arena on the left at Volusia Street.

Green Lot 2 - Take the easternmost entrance to FAU off Glades Road and go north to 20th Street, then left (west) to the lot, just north of the College of Nursing.

Green Lot 3 - Immediately east of the stadium and the most convenient lot to the stadium, this long north-south lot is part of the Palm Beach State College area of FAU. Hours before the game you can take University Blvd. from Glades Road to FAU Blvd and just north to the lot, on the east. But once the lot through campus is closed, you must enter campus via Spanish River Blvd. to FAU Blvd. and then come south to the stadium. The lot is on the left and is just north of the Innovation Village apartments.

We used lot 3 and it worked out great. We had a 1-minute walk to our seats ad could see and hear the video board from our spots. Green Lot 3 is a public lot, but the extreme south end of it closest to the stadium is supposedly for season ticket holders. But, the lots is rarely full and gameday purchasers just fill in there. Trash cans and porta-potties are plentiful.

Cost for any of the lots is $15 online and on gameday and $12 by phone. However, some friends came very early, before the stadium workers had set up, and parked for free.

I will too. Despite what many of my fellow Panthers think, I definitely view FAU as our rival and will miss the games. I've actually decided not to tailgate for this game. Our miserable failure of a season has sucked all my desire to spend eight hours preparing to lose out of me. I'll probably show up a couple hours early and hang out at the Alumni tent. A win by FIU Friday would somewhat redeem this season for me. A loss, well, I guess I should be used to it.
