Tailgating Regulations, parking, etc.?

Tailgating Regulations, parking, etc.?

Hey everyone - I'm a UCF alum in South Florida, now a grad student at FAU.  My first loyalty is to UCF, of course, but I like catching an FAU game from time to time.  Now that there's a new stadium it'll be a much better atmosphere than at Lockhart.  My work takes me by the new stadium a lot and it looks pretty cool.

Anyway, my question is: have they outlined rules/regulations for tailgating yet?  I've done some halfassed internet searches but haven't found anything.  Will people have to pay to park everywhere or will there be free parking?  I was also wondering if the Tri-Rail/Palmtran connection will be running on gamedays - might be a better way to get people to/from games.

All good questions that need to be answered…

First off I am sorry to hear that you went to UCF, I'm sure it seemed like a good option at the time, and am glad you made the wise decision when it came time for grad school.

Second, thus far I do not believe there are any official guidelines. No, you will not have to pay to park everywhere only certain areas. I am assuming not yet on the tri-rail palmtran deal but who knows

Re: Tailgating Regulations, parking, etc.?

Jestert, welcome to the Nest and thank you for supporting the team. I'm not sure on the specifics about parking, but I did purchase the prepaid parking option with my season tickets. So I'm assuming that there will specific areas for paid parking…where; don't know. Concerning tailgating, when we go to the basketball games, we tailgate with no issues. Also, I've seen the MagicJack fans also tailgating with no issues.

Welcome Jestert79!

As explained previously, we have not been given any official rules or details on tailgating and parking.

Know this: FAU, like any other school, would seek to maximize revenue and paid parking is one way to do that. So I'd be very surprised if it was free parking anywhere close to the stadium. Offhand I'd imagine the pay-to-park lots would be:

- The lot east of the stadium in front of Palm Beach State College
- Anything along the north side of campus, particularly north of the science buildings (Engineering and Medicine)
- the Burrow parking lot
- The garages.

Should be able to park for free (or relatively cheap, at the meters) everywhere else. For instance, I can't imagine they'd charge to park in the lot over by the second garage. After all, there are some people who will be coming to campus on Saturdays to study/do research/etc and they shouldn't have to pay since they're not attending the game.

But good questions. Keep following the board and we'll post as soon as we know.

Re: Tailgating Regulations, parking, etc.?

I imagine it'd be similar to UCF, which has colored zones.  Some are pay-to-park, some are permit only depending on your status as a booster, and some are just free (but yeah, quite far from the stadium.)  I'm sure FAU will be coming out with maps and stuff for that in the near future…
