Talk of Hurts to FAU
jgf2017 saidIíd say Khalib Woods was 100 times the deep threat Durante is. Whoís to say that even if that ball against Charlotte is thrown perfectly that Durante even catches it. He dropped every tough catch. The ball had to be placed perfectly for Durante and heíd only catch it if he wasnít running fast. Whenever he ran as fast as he could he couldnít catch. Thatís probably why West Virginia didnít play him. The number one receiver canít have such issues, especially when the rest of the receivers werenít setting the world on fire. Itís clear weíre goong to turn into a passing team though so I donít know about us getting primarily running qbs†Posted On: Jan 12th 2019, 8:42 AM
2017 team started rolling when Woods wasn't even much a factor, partly because of great, solid QB decision making, something we sorely missed last year. I never said Durante was better than Woods, but he wasn't chopped liver either and did receive all conference honorable mentions because of it (and Kiff thanking the lord we had him).
Bottom line: Kiffin clearly wants to give the keys to the kingdom to CRob. CRob may not have what many here would consider great weapons next year either; either way a good QB will find a way to get the most out of his D1 level receivers like JD did the year before. Let's see it happen.
David Slavic saidHonestly, great decision on his part. He'll probably be right back in the playoffs next year, and might have his best year, considering how both Mayfield and Murray did.Posted On: Jan 16th 2019, 4:40 PM
Will be interesting. †I donít think his talent is in the same league as those guys. †Maybe he proves me wrong…
Let's not forget he has completed around 63% of his passes for almost 5500 yards with 46 TDs and only 12 INTs. He has also rushed for nearly 2000 yards and another 22 TDs. He lost his job to a guy who was and will continue to be the front-runner for the Heisman. Otherwise his career numbers would probably be close to 10k total yards and more than 100 total TDs. While be may not be Kyler Murray in 2019, I think he'll let the Sooners continue to look a lot like their 2018 offense and his running ability will put pressure on the rest of the Big 12 teams.
Local Owl saidChris Robison WILL be a bad a– in the next coming season and two after that. This was his learning year and Kiffin let us slip statistically to get him the experience he needed. I am more than confident in his arm But, he still needs skilled players around him. Nothing better than entering spring and fall practices knowing who the man is. Chris is the man.Posted On: Jan 12th 2019, 11:36 AM
I hope you are right. I just didn't see enough from him last year to feel 100% confident that it'll happen, although I have to think he will improve. You can see he has a sort of wild, gunslinger mentality, and sometimes that's hard to rein in. Even with our WR/O line issues this past year, I'm confident we'd have still had a great year had Driskel started.
