like i said, we all have our opinions.  i feel that the video tells the truth, you all feel it shows nothing.  we're not going to agree, so let's just drop it.  i also disagree with the Sun Belt Conference apologizing, that was spineless.  if Troy felt it needed to apologize, it would have.  Waters getting involved just provides further evidence that he is a poor leader for our conference.  we need a new man at the helm to lead the 'Belt to the next level.

I do agree that this arguement is getting old and it's time to move on.

There may not have been a late hit, but according to some of our players, there was some bad sportsmanship on the field tuesday…

With that said, I generally like everyone on here, there's no jerks or assholes, you guys are just trying to defend yourself, as you should be, but I feel this is proof that Howard needs to check some things.

Re: Thank you FAU

Now this is turning into a lot of he said-he said.  If some FAU players said these things, it is unfortunate and something I certainly don't condone.  However, you also have to keep in mind we are only getting one side of the story here.  We don't know if any Troy players, upset at the injury to their QB said anything to provoke a FAU response.  I find it hard to believe that only FAU was talking out there.  They are in the heat of the moment and stupid things get said.  But I do agree that there isn't an excuse for laughing at a hurt opponent.  So if they were laughing about the guy getting hurt, then the coaching staff should address it and remind them about good sportsmanship.

Re: Thank you FAU

I think the quote from the article that states that FAU players "are not coachable" is unfortunately fairly accurate at this point. The guys have had far too many penalties and seem to be playing without any type of accountability. The whole first quarter of the Troy game was one penalty after another. Unless the coaches get this team back on track that quote might just sum up the season.

Same players were pretty coachable last season (18 returning starters).

I agree. Unfortunately success can change a the mentality of a player and a team. Personal fouls and other stupid penalties indicate one thing…A LACK OF DISCIPLINE. Right now that seems to be the problem.

Seems like they do lack discipline.  I dont want to make excuses, but 4 of our first 5 games this season were on the road, 3 being against more talented teams…I think that took more of a toll on our players than anything else.  I would love to get out of those money games on the road vs. the #1 team in the country….just demoralizes the fans and players to lose any game by 40+ points to start the season.

Exactly.  Losing skews everyone's view of a team.  Six games ago, we had great players and Coach Schnellenberger was a genius.  A 1-5 record later and Coach is losing it, all our players suck, they are uncoachable, and a bunch of troublemakers.

These players aren't any less talented then they were last season.  There are a number of reasons that things haven't gone right this year.  For one thing, the OOC schedule turned out to be much more difficult then people thought.  Everyone figured that Texas, Michigan State, and Minnesota would be tough games, but nobody could have foreseen that we would be playing three top 30 teams(including the #1 team) in the first 4 weeks of the season.   With expectations so high, I think playing teams of that caliber just crushed our confidence.  Then we went out on the road and controlled the game against MTSU for all but 9 seconds and lost on a fluke play.  Last week against Troy was a culmination of all the errors we have been making so far this year…penalties, dropped passes, turnovers, etc.  There have been injuries to key players.  Add in some bad luck and it all equals a 1-5 start.

But there is still 6 games left and a chance to turn this nightmare of a season around.  This team just needs a win in the worst way (same goes for us fans).  Hopefully the turn around starts this weekend because personally, I'm tired of all the negative talk around here.

It is not about losing. It is about the bad mistakes and the personal fouls that we are committing. Are players have a ton of talent, but their heads are the problem right now and win or lose late hits, personal fouls, etc. indicate the lack of discipline that can be associated with this team right now.

Re: Thank you FAU

It isn't about losing in one respect, but it also really is about losing.  For the first and hopefully last time, we were the team doing the underestimating.  Texas? If we play hard we can win.  UAB? Ha! Next! Michigan State? Whats in a name. Minnesota? Beat them once, do it again. Sun Belt Opponents? Waiting to get slaughtered. We thought we could beat any of these teams… the fact is we could beat Troy, MTSU, and UAB and the rest of the Sun Belt, but the team got their dreams shattered and it shows.  While they were busy reaching higher someone (Texas, MSU, UM) kicked out the stool they were standing on.  Now they are lying on the floor, injured trying to get up.

This thread should change into an actual "Thank You FAU" themed thread.  I'll start.

- I grew up a Hurricane fan, all my life I loved them and the FSU-UM game was the game each season I had to see.  That was until FAU came along.  Now, even in our darkest hours, every game of the FAU Owls has become what the FSU-UM game was in my youth, a must see, a must experience.  NO matter what, I will be there…even this season, I bought season tickets despite that I am studying abroad…never regretted it once.  When the new stadium arrives I will be there with so many other people just like me that love these damn owls, whether they are heart attack or heart break, we will be there.  Now lets get our act together and finish strong.
