The Better of Two Evils
Which outcome would you prefer to see this Saturday vs. the Gamecocks?
FAU wins (10-7), but Rusty puts up horrible #s | [16 votes] |
FAU loses (35-42), but Rusty puts up spectacular #s | [4 votes] |

The Better of Two Evils
So would fans rather get a BCS win with horrible #s from Smith….or….. great #s from Smith, but with another BCS loss????

A win is a win… that was too easy.
So you would rather get a meaningless OOC win (granted against BCS team), than increase FAU's chances of getting their first player ever drafted?

I know this is all hypothetical, but I don't think FAU could win without Rusty putting up spectacular numbers. Since we are discussing something completely hypothetical I say an FAU win is more important than Rusty's personal numbers. We all know that you don't have to get drafted to be a success in the NFL.

Re: The Better of Two Evils
I would rather have the win then Rusty having a huge day and losing.
A WIN over a SEC team would do wonders for the program and the confrence, which leads to more exposure, better recruits, which would lead to more Draft picks.
I like Rusty a lot. I hope he does well and makes the Draft and the NFL.
But the team and the program are MUCH bigger then one person.
If you ask Rusty Ill bet he'd rather win then have great personal stats.

After the Nebraska game, I read various articles from the media that state Rusty Smith's chances of being drafted into the NFL have significantly decreased, and if FAU's all-time leading passer cannot prove himself against a tough BCS opponent (South Carolina), he will likely not be drafted.
So would fans rather get a BCS win with horrible #s from Smith….or….. great #s from Smith, but with another BCS loss????
I have to believe that if Rusty cannot engineer a win South Carolina, he will go as a FA. He's been our best QB in the program's short history so we believe he's NFL material but compared to other QB's nationally, especially since they're only going to draft a handful of QBs at best, he's likely not a priority for teams.
