The biggest question this season...

I am as much of an FAU institution as Howard's jackets and ties, the poor PA system at Lockhart Stadium and lame chants. No respect.

The biggest question this season...

You all see what "who let the owls out" is doing to us, don't you? I agree, I like the old guy's spirit, but come on…who let the owls out, who, who, who, who! Why don't we all agree on one thing: let's leave it at Lockhart? If that's not incentive to build the on-campus stadium sooner rather than later, I don't know what is!

The song is bad…the chant is bad…Lockhart is bad…enough said.

yaaaaaaaawwwWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

Around and around we go. Why do people on this board get crucified for stating their opinions? I'm sure many of these comments are made with tongues firmly planted in cheeks.

Some people like the chant, many don't. It's not a personal afront to the gentleman who leads the cheer. Anyone who has been around the program from the beginning knows he has been a loyal supporter from Day 1. But so have many of us here.

I think we are all entitled to our own points of view, whether they are popular or not. Too many people are so quick to try and knock fellow fans down. It's tiresome. And I'm sure someone will take umbrage with post (AGAIN).

By the way … dilettantes, good word.

Thank you Canadian! I don't like the chant…just my opinion. I'm not attacking the guy. I have said over and over again how much I love the guy's spirit and passion for the program and how we need more people like him. I never want him to lose the spirit…just the chant. It's lived a long life, time to find something new, something that won't be made fun of by visting teams fans. I've sat on the visiting team's sideline many times. When people from other schools hear it, they laugh at us. Like CO said, many of us here are just as loyal and passionate about the team. I personally have been to every home game we have played so I think I have the same right to hate the chant as that guy does to yell it. I'm sorry that I think it is tired and the whole "Who Let the Dogs Out" thing should have been left in 2001 with other bad songs like Mambo #5 and the Macarena. It was a sad time in music history and I don't think we should be made to re-live it. ;D Do I expect that my post will discourage the WLTOO guy? Not really. People not going along with the chant after 6 years should do that, not me writing about it here.

I can hear him from the sideline!! I pace up and down, but it still does no good! I hear Who Let The Owls Out over Howard's snoring at night in my dreams.

If no one has picked up on it, this guy/thing is posing as Bervelee Schnellenberger, hence the name "beverleesthong"

I'd kinda like to see him/it go away.

This guy/thing/whatever came out of the woodwork lst year, just ignore hime abd eventually he will go away again.

GO OWLS!

As much as I hate to admit it, the "Who let the Owls Out?" is a part of FAU history. It started at the first FAU game and it has lived on despite the better judgement of most. As a part of history we should embrace it to some extent as painful as that may seem.

Slavery is part of US history…you want to embrace that too??

Extreme example, I know, but the point is valid. Just because something has always been done, doesn't mean it has to continue if the majority of people object to it.

Wow…when did this board become so PC? I've been to every home game since game one and I have never embraced "Who let the owls out?" and never will. The original was annoying enough at Dolphins games and the adaptation at FAU games is far worse. It makes it even more difficult to shake the "grade B" team image we already have being a startup in a power football state. That is my opinion and I don't mind sharing it.
I definitely appreciate the spirit of the people who cheer loudly for the Owls as it is still a minority of the game attendees but I will NEVER join in that cheer.
The "tradition" whatever it is, will have to come from the band and or students. Some have taken decades to catch on with other teams so I'm not too worried about not having one after only six years. Some things can't be rushed. :-*

Extreme, to say the least. I never in my life thought that I would witness someone comparing "Who Let the Owls Out?" to slavery. The things are so far removed from one another that they don't even warrant mention in the same context.

I am not saying love it and go along with it, I am saying that it won't be the death of FAU football if a few people like the cheer.

I only like it because it is so horrific that one can't help but laugh. That said, I am not trying to be PC. I simply think it is old school and it had its moment as bad as it has always been.
